The beginning refers to the post:

Can't you see that the one asking, natynat004, is a foreigner and not at home in Slovenian. What are you like!?

Even abroad the term "alpinist" has the same meaning as with us and doesn't differ.

Let's call a spade a spade and not pull faces childishly every time someone reasonably sh.....

In most dictionaries there is no such distinction

And what connection does that have?

On this forum discussion is primarily in Slovenian. If someone writes in some mangled mix between Slovenian, Croatian and English, then I really don't feel obliged to guess what the person meant by the word "alpinist".

A number of posts are supposed to be in Slovenian, but they are far from it. And I really don't know why anyone in the "Mangart" topic should ask what or who someone meant by the designation alpinist.

Sorry franca, but when on a mountaineering forum it's about mountaineering terms and labels, I think it's important we're precise and consistent about it, otherwise it's just confusion. In this case not really, but still for someone who hauls themselves up ferratas to call himself alpinist is practically an insult to all real alpinists.

A real alpinist keeps his thoughts to himself and goes to the mountains and doesn't write about the definition of alpinism, since he already knows what it means to be an alpinist. Now back to Mangart, okay?

NO!!

A real alpinist will strive for the development of alpinism, for respecting ethics, ascent rules, safety and everything that belongs to it. Above all he won't be passive and quiet when (crudely said) someone shits on this respected activity!!! jezen

No one shat, žiga22. We're in the internet age where you have all info at hand. And if someone writes wrong definition it just means they're uneducated or don't wish to educate on the topic. Everyone has right to correct and point out mistake someone makes, but here it turns into shitfight more and more, mildly said, for nothing. Develop alpinism and expertise with interested people. You don't do that on forum and if you think you do you're naive.

Best regards!

@Ben

Exactly that!

And since alpinism falls under the discipline of mountaineering (which is also this topic), I think it's right to clarify the terms before they get totally blurred.

As you wrote, we live in the internet age and information is at hand - so no excuses for being uninformed.

Do you really have to argue almost in every topic if someone writes something "wrong", or rather the one who reads something that should be "wrong" imagines it differently, many mountaineers, alpinists, and also ferrata lovers read these topics, and I think they don't deserve such fights up here...... nice mountaineering-ferrata greetingnasmeh

Eh, well, no one is shitting on anyone. Otherwise, even in the media they write "alpinist" whenever someone falls while climbing in the hills, and I'm pretty sure most aren't those "real" registered ones with passed exam and positive ongoing categorization at KA. Or maybe the definition is different than I thought...

Otherwise, all who venture into mountains strive for the nicest contact with them and even if someone "wrongly self-defines", the basis of their doing is the same.

Quite the opposite. When someone gets stuck in a wall, it writes they rescued a mountaineer
