Tone thanks for compliment. Mountaineers sounds nobler than hikers or walkers, alpinists usually call us "šodrovci".

Ascent to Dolkova Spica via SE ridge offers two things: first forces 110% concentration, open eyes and clear head, then forces thinking where emergency exit iszmeden, or what the hell am I doing here?jezik That's why so much greater joy at top. Continued to Rdeča Škrbina and down to "second leaguer" Gubno. Return past bivouac to car and of course to "firer". This SE ridge real experience, at times tricky, some cairns tell you're right and boost moralenasmeh.
That's it.1

Is it very loose, crumbly?

No. If you start from the grassy ledge it's more like scrambling within lower II. grade. If you start from the marked path direct to the ridge it's f**.

Vrata - Rakova špica - Dolkova špica - Vrata

Day marked by beautiful solitary peaks, while the rest of the caravan heads to Škrlatica.
The route to Rakova špica was very logical and equipped with pegs even in path details, but I was surprised by the crumbly rock step of II. grade, which didn't allow my psyche at that moment to think of soloing on descent. After careful consideration I turned around, even though not far from the top... there comes a day when it just doesn't go, next time better and plenty of opportunities nasmeh
Through Rdeča škrbina to Dolkova špica to enjoy sunny solitude. Nice circular tour cool

Today from Vrata to bivouac IV and on to Križ. Soon left path and crossed to Križ - Rdeča škrbina path.
Western scree under Dolkova špica was snowy, but on return much less snow.
From Rdeča Škrbina to Dolkova špica summit. Up from Sunday snow no one yet.
Enjoyed solitude some time, for descent thought Rdeča Škrbina to Zadnji Dolek, but path desperate (actually none), just red scree piles. Returned approach way.
Snow starting today above 2000m melting well, approach easier next days.

Hello.
What are the conditions like on Dolkova špica? My buddy and I are going on Saturday and I'm interested in the snow and ice situation.
Is Rdeča škrbina normally passable?
Thanks for the info and best regards.

On Monday I visited Dolkova špica for the first time. I ascended via Rdeča škrbina, descended the other side to Bivak IV along the marked path to Pogačnikov dom. The day was perfect for gods, so after ascending Škrlatica I did another ascent to it. On the way to Rdeča škrbina there are a few snow patches that pose no problem, you can use the snow to refresh your neckwink Rdeča škrbina is very nicely marked and passable without major issues, the path positively surprised me. The path to the top of Dolkova špica is marked with cairns that lead you to the ridge and then along the ridge to the summit. Sunny at the top, great view but a moderate warm wind was blowing. No stamp at the top, or rather it's damaged and unusable, the damaged box for the logbook lies on the ground. I hope this will be fixed in the near future, as this mountain deserves it with its height and beauty. The descent on the other side zigzags down scree then across a wall, then scree again. The path is well marked, caution needed at several spots crossing steep slopes. Above the bivouac I met a chamois family, then descent to Vrata.

On Sunday, 2.2.2020, we ascended Dolkova Špica from Vrata via the western route. The trail through the forest was icy (risk of slipping), continuation to bivak IV mixed conditions, sinking in some places, fine in others. From bivak long traverse left towards the saddle between Dovški Gamsovec and Rdeča škrbina. Snow on the traverse best in the whole tour. Continuation towards Rdeča škrbina very strenuous, sinking up to knees. From Rdeča škrbina to summit again great conditions. Very windy and we hurried back to the valley. Long but beautiful tour that's not too popular smile
Start at 7:30 from Poldoveg Rovt, as the road from there to the parking lot at Aljaž is icy. Our goal, Dolkova Špica, peeks out of the fog1
I took the dog Aryo on the tour, who on that day had a feast for four years. We have no snow in Zagreb, so we have to go to the Julijci :) 2
My mother also came with us, here we are coming out of the forest and putting on crampons3
View into the foggy Vrat valley4
The sun peeks out behind Stenar5
This Dolkova is still far away6
There is a path, but it still sinks in and therefore the ascent is quite strenuous7

Towards Stenar, Stenarska vrata and Križ10
We leave Štirko behind us. From here on we broke trail ourselves, no tracks towards Dolkova11
Long traverse to the left along the SW wall of Dolkova Špica12
Arya continues in the traverse13
Dovški Gamsovec. This winter ascent would be interesting14
It got cloudy and strong wind started blowing, we continue step by step towards Rdeča škrbina15

And we are at the summit. It is blowing very strongly and it is cold20
Mum is arriving at the summit, we shake hands and go quickly down where it blows less21

At the end the colored Cmir appeared from the fog. Nice tour that lasted a total of 10 hours25
