From Robanov Kot over Črni Hriber to Krofička

Has anyone already gone along the above-mentioned shepherd's path (pathless)? Orientationally the most difficult is supposed to be the start of the path, which doesn't exist at all! But I didn't have trouble finding it. I think I chose the wrong path at the junction, in my opinion the one that leads to Utam. And I couldn't follow even that one for long. If anyone has already walked the mentioned path in full, please advise me. Best regards

If you took the wrong path at the junction, then you were maybe completely wrong (left path into deep gully?) ... At the 'junction' for Krofička summit or for bivouac under Utami there's no path at all! Both are more pathless passages ... well, followable ... Hard to describe ...

Črni Hriber - Travniki - Ute - Strelovec («drapr» + «geppo») My long wish to try to find this «path» came true today. We were internet acquaintances who met in person for the first time today. We had been planning this for quite some time (waiting for the weather and for both to be free). Once «Volk» wrote to me (For me definitely the most beautiful over Črni Hriber - a masterpiece and then some, unfortunately relentlessly overgrowing). This kept nagging at me and when I read how you descended here with your wife, it attracted me even more… Really a masterpiece, at times hard to follow, steep, but not too difficult for climbing (doesn't exceed «one»). We maybe cut a «two» at two places - but we were to blame ourselves, because we went a bit our own way at the entry… Without special difficulties and searching we reached Travnik, Ut, snacked on the grassy ledge with a beautiful view and descended to the «Kingdom of Roban's shepherd». Tried Fuksovo/Koroščevo lock. The guys have it cleaned to «0»!! Towards Strelovec we sank into inflated snow almost to…. Walked Strelovec, visited Knez and descended to the starting point (Robani), refreshed with cold water, at Govc with beer. Regards

Bravo, Geppo + Drapr. Beautiful, right? The master was Roban's shepherd who led it over wild steeps. Regards.

We remembered your wife's comment on the descent. «You, this is not for 'normal' people!» . and to Navihanga, Gorazd... and more... Great trip today, pure ten!!! regards

Great trip, but the detour to the top of Krofička wasn't feasible, I see there's still a lot of snow in Vratna gully. Congratulations!

The detour to Krofička summit will be for another time. We checked it out a bit... well, we'll have to repeat this path! Then the meadows will be green, full of flowers... regards

Over Črni hriber or along it, to the shepherd's hut below Utami we came from Roban. At Robanova planina we imagined what that "triangle" mentioned in the book might be, and somehow along it to the left, above it a bit to the right, then found the path, lost it again, and ... really almost impossible to explain . Anyway, the path is beautiful and wild, full of ... everything; grass, rocks, scree, boars, chamois, snakes ... everything there is )). But we started a bit late, so from the hut we hurried towards Strelovec, but skipped that too, and went straight down Špilak. Haven't been so happy about macadam road for a long time as yesterday around 20h.

The triangle is probably what's on @geppo's first photo. We also went along the left side in the gully, but didn't go to the end along the triangle's side, instead found a rocky passage (chamois trail) further left, then higher a bit right and above the triangle found the pathlet. Further we followed the path, as @geppo already wrote, without trouble to Travniki. Most likely the pathlet starts at the right side of the triangle! Will need to check again. Regards and congrats on the ascent!

Dprapr, exactly. The path actually starts on the right side of the 'triangle' with cut marks, but it can also be done on the left (as written in the guidebook). But it really is time to check out this restored masterpiece. Regards.

Congratulations medo* I see the trough is restored. At the end of June I still dug a hole under the old one to drink ice-cold water. Nice that someone else goes on this hidden path so it won't overgrow completely. Regards.

Zlatko, this tour wasn't actually planned - but down there it just carries you in that direction. I had to check how it is on the right side of the triangle and up towards the top. If you repeat, I'm in! Regards

Dear sir. In your description of the path from Robanov kot over Črni hriber to Krofičko I found some names that locals have never heard of. For example OLTAR above Utami is KONj to us. Behind it viewed from the hut at utah to the west are Covnikovi travniki. Definitely not TRAVNIK where you wrote it. I've never heard of ROBANOV VRH either, and I've been walking these Solčava pathless areas for 60 years. Don't change field names in our areas (and elsewhere too.) Let me give you well-intentioned advice. If you're in a foreign place, follow a good foreign proverb that says "READ THE MAP AND ASK THE PEASANT" Best regards from Janez Slapnik from Solčava-

OK, Janez, I'll follow your advice "READ THE MAP AND ASK THE PEASANT". Next time only names marked on maps on photos. Someone told me Konj is Oltar, fine, let it be Konj now, I didn't name Covnikove travnike anywhere, on my new map they are marked as Travnik, a bit further towards Škrbina Zadnji Travnik. In the new KSA guide it says the next peak after Krofička is called Travnik not Ute, so I marked it that way on the photo. Regarding Križevnik: famous alpinist and guidebook writer Milenko Arnejšek - Prle: Grebeni slovenskih gora, title on page 44: KRIŽEVNIK - VELIKI (Robanov) VRH. Exactly so, everything else is unimportant. That Križevnik is also called Robanov vrh, some 'peasant' from Robanov or another kot probably told Prle. Anyway, we can together, also 'geppo' and 'dprapr', repeat the upper tour and say something more about names on its ascent. Best regards also from Jovan Cukut from Ljubljana.
