Given that this is a hut with typical Austrian shutters and GG visible in the back, I assume it's that hut below Johannisberg?

Yes, GG is in the back, but the hut is not under Johannisberg.

Right @JOŽE.
This is Hoher Sonnblick, one of the three most famous peaks in Austria. The alpine hut and meteorological observatory stand on its 3106m summit and are open only in summer. At the mountain's foot there were gold mines in the past. I also saw the gold panning site (some still look for it by panning, I had no luck searching) and related objects (small crystal exhibition, forge, miner's house, tunnel). Ski tourers love this mountain and neighboring 3254m Hohcar, as it's quite accessible for the height. In 1905 the lowest temperature in Austria -37.2°C was measured here.

Yes, the mountain is popular for ski touring too, depending on conditions. During my visit it wasn't ideal. It belongs to "Peaks of Friendship 60".
Anyone can set the next riddle!
