Podmeja(724m)-Golava(834m)-Reška planina(925m)-Podmeja. Total walking time 7 hours, total ascent 1340m. Quite demanding tour, especially dangerous descent from Golava to Prebolt-Trbovlje road. Don't know why PD Prebolt hikers marked the path without securing it or making steps at some places.

Hello! I would ask what the conditions on this path are like now and I'm interested if this path would be suitable for me, even though I have vertigo in heights and precipices and fear of heights, if it's suitable to climb it and if on this path you accidentally slip or fall into a precipice or there's nothing so dangerous that you could fall somewhere. Condition-wise I'm well prepared, so steepness doesn't bother me, I'm just afraid of slipping into some precipice.? Best regards, Aditaker

On this path you won't slip into a precipice. It's steep in places, but nothing particularly dangerous to slip deep somewhere. So, boldly tackle this path. lp

Aha super, thanks geppo, can you just write me where exactly is the starting point for this path, where to leave the car and where to start, so I'll go up the right path following the markers, so I won't get lost on the wrong path. Best regards, Aditaker

Shorter morning hike, nice also from this side (Marija Reka). Zvonetova path has quite a few meters of added cables, so probably no more problems on the ascent. Then descent along the ridge past the hunting hut almost to Prebold (razpelo), there instead of returning on the road straight along the forest/hunting path back to Huš farm. The logging trail is well gravelled at first, then turns into path and later streambed. Good nose brings us almost to the logging trail from opposite direction (connected it with ascent around 20 elevation meters). We run straight to the farm.

Golava (Zvonetova Path) While driving to Prebold, I got an idea for Golava. A colleague mentioned it to me a few days ago and suggested going there. Today I tackled it without hiking boots or poles. Sudden inspiration while driving along the Savinja . The path no longer goes past the house and the dog with "bad nerves". The starting point is a bit lower and there is nice parking by the road. Muddy at the start, above 500 m a.s.l. the freeze begins and a dusting of fresh snow. Due to inappropriate footwear and no poles, I crawled on all fours in places, grabbing roots. I was glad for the fixed protections where there are more demanding traverses and verticals. At the top NE wind and the start of the descent on the sunny slope is muddy. Soon freezing again. At the top about -4°C. In about 2 hours at the starting point where the car is parked +2.5°C. Did a nice loop, repeated after 10 years. regards

From beginning to ruins of old homestead we call Pepelčev hrib, other remains of old homestead are by meadow below Gradišče summit on eastern side, quite overgrown, think it was abandoned after WWII!! I'll go get some detailed info, LP

Thanks When I come across abandoned buildings, I always look nearby for a water spring. Usually buildings were placed there so water was nearby. But in these slopes it wasn't clear to me where they got it? Otherwise I found one corner? But I'm not sure they supplied themselves with water here... regards

Some additional ideas if anyone wants local exploration and already has some skills in off-trail walking. Unfortunately no saved picture material. Green dot - overgrown areas of tributaries of Velika reka stream. Expect slippery slopes if walking off hunting paths and high chance of encountering wild animals, which can also be dangerous. Red dot - rocky tooth below Golava. Viewpoint where we don't have to argue with hikers for the grassy sunny rug. There are several approaches (or descents). Good to know surrounding marked approaches and master walking on steep slopes or vegetated rock. Blue dot - summit (Homič) in direct proximity to the biggest crowd of this area, offering nice view to the south and century-old trees on approach ridges. regards

Which are these dangerous wild animals? I have problems only with pets, just yesterday on the way to Kamčič a big dog threatened me, with a distant owner.

Wild boars, had some unpleasant encounters. On the way to Kamčič better avoid both farms, if you meant that part of domestic animals

Andi, please write more about encounters with boars. Did you see them daytime or more at dusk? I haven't met them in nature yet, they are supposedly fast, and no joking with them if agitated... These days under Janče often noticed uprooted undergrowth that could be from them.

Yesterday morning from Matk to Golava, Homič and Mrzlica. With wet snow and mud descent from Golava along Andrejeva path, very slippery, ascent to Homič top-notch. This winter I've enjoyed walking in snow and sun in home hills.

Really disgusting to walk in so much snow, I agree. We haven't suffered like this in the hilly regions these past few months for a long time. Maybe you don't have the right gear, like snowshoes, touring skis or something similar?

Probably speaking from personal experience. We have a lot of sun and wind, so paths dry relatively quickly. Also more snow than in previous years and it still lingers on peaks. That little mud from the valley and on some churned tracks doesn't pose problems. There have been worse and better conditions for hiking. Everything has pros and cons. Cheers
