Haloze Mountain Trail (HPP) Borl-Donačka gora

Print
stankoju25. 04. 2010 07:15:08
Yesterday we walked the entire HPP trail. The organizer was the sports club Ptujska gora. The trail is quite demanding and runs through really picturesque Haloze among vineyards. We started at Borl castle at 4 am, the first faster group needed 12 hours and 20 min for the whole trail, which is a good result but very tiring. I recommend the trail to everyone, but it's better to do it in stages, because then there are more opportunities to get to know the picturesque landscape. Greetings and congratulations to all participants again. lp Stanko

Thanks to friends from Ptujska gora for invitation to this long and scenic path through Haloze hills. On the way many interesting things happened so we laughed heartily at Rudi's hut. Greetings! Lajči

Great respect, that's an achievement, hope you're not too tired today, because walking this path in one day is a real challenge.

I became a "collector of hiking trail badges" and this spring I want to attach HPP badge to my hat. If there's any HPP expert on this forum I'd ask for some info..
1.How well or poorly is the trail marked
2.How about stamps, are all there and are places where to get stamp marked
3.Where to buy HPP logbook and guide

Joža, the trail is quite well marked and maintained. How about stamps and where to get logbook, all info at PD Ptuj. I know the trail well because I walk it at least twice a year in one piece, that's over 60 km. If you have questions, contact me. Best. Lajči

Joža, half of HPP my friend and I walked last end of April and Lajcicar helped us a lot with advice and his stage descriptions posted on this forum. HPP guide and Lower Podravje map was sent to me by local development agency HALO d.o.o., tel. 02/795 32 00 (cost with postage 10 euros). Of course wish to walk the other half too, but there are so many trails in our little country that I'm far behind... Good luck on the trail! Best, Ljubica

I have a question for HPP. Is the trail one way 30 km? how many hours needed to walk?

The trail is almost 60 km long in one direction and has over 2,200 m elevation gain, so the Borl-Donačka gora trail.
With average speed 5km/h, that's 12 hours + breaks.

We also plan to hike this trail in the near future. I divided the stages into three parts:
Borl - Dravinjski vrh
Dravinjski vrh - Naraplje
Naraplje - Donačka gora
I ask those familiar with this trail for opinions on the stages, the trail is similarly long as our Šentiljska, which we have hiked in one day or two stages, but HPP is less known to me, so I divided it into more stages.

Here is a link from PD Ptuj about HPP, by the way we hiked the entire trail last year in 12 hours and 20 minutes, the slower group in approx 15 hours. But I think if you go on this trail for the first time and don't know it, count on walking a bit more time due to orientation even though it's quite well marked.

On Saturday we hiked the trail from Borl to Dravinjski vrh, some problems with orientation on certain sections where the trail overlaps with Bračičeva pot, so at the intersection you come across markings that lead in both directions, and you don't know which is the right one for HPP. Otherwise pleasantly surprised by the tidiness of Haloze.

In 22 hours all stops at tourist farms, photographing and admiring the beauties of beautiful Haloze are included.
As for 12 hours, there's no running yet, but it's a pure partisan march with short stops at TF, a few pics and that's it. Before tackling the whole trail in one go, I warmly recommend first hiking it in stages, then mixing it in your head and deciding for the long trail. Don't forget mental and physical readiness and being completely healthy. Greetings!Lajči

On Saturday we did the second part of HPP. We started at Dravinjski vrh and finished in Naraplje. Friendly people, so good wine is not lacking. At some places, as in the first part, insufficient markings.

Today we ceremonially planted a descendant of the Modra kavčina vine from Lent at the tourist farm Korpič in Dravci. HPP passes by, so I stopped to check out this curiosity. It was awfully hot today. Best regards! Lajči
