Introduce yourself: where do you come from?

Hello mountaineers In this thread please introduce yourselves: where are you from? Your age, if you haven't written it in this thread yet: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=10001&id=2790&stran=1, when you started actively with mountaineering, do you go to mountains alone etc. You can add something else I come from around Horjul (near LJ) or rather. I'm not from Horjul, but I'm still a few kilometers outside Horjul valley. My age I already mentioned on the above link, I've been active in mountaineering since 2008, like everyone I started small, this year I finally conquered Triglav myself and many mountains over 2500 meters, so far I've stuck to difficult paths, next year I'll buy some new gear (practically I only have poles and boots). I go to mountains ALONE without company, the experience is unforgettable when you're alone up there somewhere. best regards

It might be interesting or useful to just write -where we come from, as we might get to know each other, arrange a possible joint trip, meeting for coffee, over beer.. When I meet someone who likes hiking somewhere, I usually ask if they know Hribi.net. Of course many know it, but mostly not registered - don't comment. Maybe we've met up there already, or even live near one of us, but don't know it. Ok., if it should stay as it is, I'm not against. Best!

here I am from the center of our country (geoss), more seriously hiking in mountains last two years, walked and climbed KSA and Karavanke, next year Julian Alps.. I mostly go alone, suits me, and hard to find someone to get up in the middle of the night with such will... here, that's it... if anyone interested... then lp and safe step, they say... p.s. kudos to hribi.net where I sucked up all info and tips...

OK Just write here where you come from and since when you hike in mountains (actively, understand, not 1-2-3x/year, because that's nothing compared to 10-15 and more demanding full-day tours).

About how long and how often we hike, we've already written. (general thread) My location is Gorenjska, Jesenice. Regarding mountains - I don't leave Gorenjska for now. I hike a lot in the immediate surroundings of my place. LP!

Just a real mountain lover, 10-15 times really isn't something to brag about. Ask Igor if you don't believe us. It goes something like this: - up to 100 tours yearly is nothing - from 100 to 150 barely anything - over 150 per year is already enough that you can say you often go to the mountains

I confirm what sherpa wrote, 10-15 per month is a solid number, so around 13 times per month, some months more, some less, depending if nice weather falls on a free day, and since the year has 12 months, winter is of course no obstacle, it adds up to around 160 days. Otherwise from Bovec, which is somehow in the middle of what interests me.

Sherpa, don't kick in the dark. In a year you have approx. 110 free days on weekends. Plus vacation plus some holidays. That together makes approx. 130-140 free days. If you're not retired or a lucky lotto winner, it's very hard to rack up 100 tours, which is supposed to be barely anything, as you write. I go to the mountains very often. Soon I'll "celebrate" the 40th anniversary of mountain visiting. Both here and abroad. And I tell you, if for example I limit myself to the average of the last five years, I'm satisfied and happy that I manage on average about 90 tours yearly. Half winter and half summer. Roughly. Real tours, demanding and long-lasting. Often from dawn to dusk. Some weekends work takes away, some I skip due to objective reasons (mostly weather). Otherwise, there's no weekend that I don't go somewhere, and vacation goes more or less only to the non-useful world. And I have to give really all of myself to reach approx. 90 tours. Only when I was at the employment office did I manage two years in a row to spend over 150 days in the mountains yearly. Otherwise, the path to the mountains starts in the capital.

Adds up to around 45 times yearly. But I'm still convinced that I'm a relatively good mountaineer and, regarding the share of used free time for mountains, probably among the first. Namely: the workweek lasts around 70 hours weekly , free is only Sunday (and even that often with on-call phone in the backpack ), vacation is just a memory of nice times from the past beloved homeland . And finally the distance is not negligible: from Istria up there towards "Slovenia ".

Not everyone has time to spare, for me 10-15x/year is already quite some trips, i.e. only from May to somewhere mid-autumn while there's still no snow in the mountains, then wait again till May for snow to melt, i.e. this year I even did one winter trip to Kamniško sedlo. The reason I don't go on winter tours is simple, because the gear is PIG expensive, saw an ad from one shop.

I'm from the Domžale area, more active in the hills over the last few years, very satisfied if I do around 35 tours. Summer ones. In winter I don't go, because I dedicate weekends to skiing. This year my tours are modest due to an injury both in number and elevation meters. Regards to all!

I'm a Ljubljaner, Šmarnogorec , I've been hiking for around 15 years. I manage approximately 60 ascents per year, and even there at work they sometimes turn a blind eye so I can take advantage of a nice day during the week. Time is lacking for more, I need to do other things too . I choose routes around LJ and further west up to the Julian Alps and Karnics. Wonderful places . Bagi

It's raining outside, at least here in Radovljica , out of context "mountain lover": if you saw the ad from ONE shop (there are more shops and providers actually!), then we really can't help you, but we can tell you that gear can be obtained at favorable (read reasonable) prices. Otherwise, a topic about it already exists and not just one , just check the forum a bit...

I won't complicate! Trbovlje is my home! A bit higher where I see Kum, Veliko Kozje, Gore, Kovk, Dol pri Hrastniku, Marno, Kal, Mrzlica, Podmejo, Planina-Javor, Čemšeniška planina, Zeleno travo, in the distance from Kamniško sedlo to Grintavec and some other peaks I can't identify because I don't know them. Oh, and Triglav I see too. P.S. Tomorrow I upload pictures of the unknown world!

On one side Nanos, on the other side Ursula with broom landing. How many tours??? Alone almost never, always family ones and I hope so for at least the next 10 years. How often: almost every weekend, almost every holiday, obligatory the summer vacation. Of course in winter too, however more towards the south to the bora, which is not good only for drying laundry and prosciutto. To the mountains I go from high school or rather from the time when I started to answer for my actions myself. To the mountains I go, of course, planned. On Triglav of course already too,... When some fought, others martinčkali, some of us sang the anthem on Kredarica, well everyone fought in their own way. And maybe this too: almost for every ascent or just hike I peek here.

hi Sherpa, not everyone is given the chance to combine hobby and job. I've been a pensioner for some time but still lack time so I do around 100 trips in recent years. From home only a few km to Karavanke and Kamnik peaks.

Over 100 ascents per year? Get real... I do around 30 ascents per year, alone, mostly in Julian Alps. and I have free weekends... And still have time for hiking!! True though, no experience in winter conditions, sadly. And in winter alpine skiing is a great joy for me. I'm from Kranj. During the week I climb nearby hill with good 800m altitude a lot. And this: hribi.net is great, most tours I find right here.

Interesting topic. From Vrhnika and given I'm fully employed (job, family), I manage ca. 30x to mountains per year. I like all, demanding as well as easy hikes. For now more in summer, as in winter I prefer skiing, but next year plan to start winter hikes too. Most often to KSA and Julian Alps, and of course nearest Planina above Vrhnika, great for fitness. Have fun!

At home at the foot of Boč, so to higher mountains quite some drive. In hills since elementary school, last years up to 20x/year with family discovering higher beauties of our Slovenia. Obligatory check Hribi.net before tour.

Start to hills from Ljubljana, per year around 30 ascents, mainly high mountains. Also winter ones, though more dedicate to skiing. Would do more, but boss at work doesn't allow.....hahahaha
