Jamnik

Jamnik is a really nice hill, just right for today. I start at Češnjica and head through steep forest to the hut at Petelinovec. Years ago it was a hunting hut where you could get tea or something to drink. Then it was sold, and now someone uses it for weekends. Shame. Above the hut I step on the road from Kropa to Jamnik. A couple of minutes on the road, then I turn to
the path that goes past the Kolombart farm across the plain all the way to the church at Jamnik. On the ridge before the church there were snowdrifts and it was still blowing quite hard.
From Jamnik I decide for a quick descent, straight below the church and further through steep forest towards Češnjica. Gliding in such fluffy snow is really a pleasure jezik

One two three I was down in the gully. There I step on the forest road and along it another 10 minutes to Češnjica. On the way a roe deer startles me, hiding among snow-covered branches mežikanje

Really cool this Jamnik, go up sometime you'll like it nasmeh

Jamnik I approach the spring, cross it and am already on the forest road

@adja, tell me, can one go up some visible path? There are no signs at all anywhere. Because I wanted to go up some forest path, not asphalt.

Hi katty, path Češnjica near Kropa to Jamnik is marked. If coming from Kranj side, drive through Podnart to Kropa. But before Lipnica left branches road to Češnjica. Drive over hill and through village. At the end of the village before steep descent down, on the right side notice forest road, space just for one car. Park there and see mark directing right from forest path to footpath. Path always clearly visible, marked, no problem.
On road couple minutes, from it turn left right where right branches path to Vodiško pl.
Return same way back, this my descent variant is not marked. I use it only I and wildlife velik nasmeh

A few years ago there was a nicely marked circular path Podnart - Češnjica - Jamnik - Rovte - Podnart. Now the marks have faded a bit and some trees have been felled, but the path can still be found.
But start at the end of Češnjica village and go left.

Aha, you mean Češnjica near Kropa eek

... I thought about that one near Železniki or in Selška dolina. No, that's a completely different story nasmeh

Went in the afternoon on this rainy day up towards Jamnik.
Wet but nice mežikanje

in memory of war victims and fallen fighters

they say green color does good, and such a walk too

Again to "my hill", nice as always nasmeh

more and more leaves on the ground and fewer and fewer on the trees

Lubnik can be seen there in the background

towards Storžič everything was shrouded in fog

and I'm already down below Češnjico where these two are grazing

still over this footbridge, a minute or two and I'm at the car

Some pics from yesterday's trip Rovte - Jamnik - Češnjica - Rovte. Whole path trodden, little snow up to 5 cm, only last 10 mins below summit around 15 cm.
Path icy in places, so more caution esp. descent.
Gaiters not needed.

Today to the little church on Jamnik - it's the balcony of Gorenjska. Start was in the village Podblica - I just call it at the cookies. Through the village we went quite quickly. The church is visible from afar. Like some queen it overlooks Gorenjska. And there is really something to see. At the monument to the right down the steps from the asphalt. Past the panel and after about three hundred meters a neat little church greets us. Nowhere around is prettier.

Here at the communal island we leave the vehicle.

Nemilje-St. Primus and Felician (Jamnik)(16.4.2019). Path well marked, suitable for family hikes. At the top wonderful views await. Nice mountaineer's greeting.
