Javorca (Golte)

Yesterday morning I parked at the end of Planiska ravna in the quarry. To park, I had to clear some snow myself. The local guy in charge of plowing usually never clears a spot by the road in winter for visitors who start hiking here. It probably has some purpose, but certainly the opposite of the desired one. velik nasmeh

I went up my own path along the cairns. At least 30 or more years ago, when Požganija after the fire wasn't so overgrown yet, it was a hunter's path that only those with more chamois-like legs walked. velik nasmeh

Over the years it completely grew over. Since I missed it, I gradually cleared it and rerouted part of it due to complete overgrowth. In winter conditions, the ascent isn't a piece of cake.
It was quite cold, -5°C and a strong north wind that showed its power several times along the way. During the ascent I enjoyed the beautiful view. There were lots of fresh chamois tracks. I watched two for a while enjoying and sunbathing on nearby rocks. A bit higher I sat for a long time at my favorite viewpoint watching the still green valley. If I managed to climb the rocky jump above the quarry without an ice axe, I really needed it for the rocky jump to the ridge above Lovska peč. There's already quite a bit of snow there, even up to the knees and more. So I arrived at the top of the ridge all snowy. velik nasmeh

I continued to the bivouac below Javorca and there in the shelter surrendered to the sun rays. This time too I find new entries in the logbook, fresh tracks told me that. Tonika, Boštjan, you don't leave me whole anymore, huh. velik nasmeh

I returned via Javorca past Na skalci and below Alpski vrt past Mesarska lopa. This path is almost even more beautiful in winter than in summer because of the ice candles hanging from the wall above it and the view which is completely different due to bare trees.

Oh Janez, nice pics.. even nicer weather... I was up there on Sunday morning and was sure we'd meet somewhere nasmeh

I started the classic from the Alpine Garden... to the junction at Luknja someone had already walked... later I found out Tonika overtook me... so I went right to the bivouac through wonderful winter idyll... snow sometimes well over the knees... at the bivouac I enjoyed the views a bit and onwards...

Today despite rain zavijanje z očmi

from Žekovec towards Mozirska. A little below Kebro rain turns to snow - real winter idyll, just no views. Over Požganija,(here really need more care) to bivouac where I added something, then to Boskovec. Snow fluffy and trailbreaking real pleasure even to knees. Boskovec without tower, not the same anymore - pity. Descent classic.

In January I visited Javorca 12 times and each time it was nice. How differently nice, let the pictures tell.

The last precipitation took more snow from Golte than it gave. The total snow cover is still around one meter. But at the end it snowed enough to have plenty for pleasant trudging again. In places there's an annoying icy crust underneath, which just requires a bit more concentration when walking. I drive my wife to the hotel because she went skiing. I drive back to the quarry at Planinski ravni and then up to Javorca. In the track I notice a fresh track and also the entry of its owner in the bivouac. velik nasmeh

At the bivouac it was so warm that I surrendered to the sun in short sleeves. Crocuses and snowdrops are not missing either, winter and spring hand in hand. Something special is also when you can look at spring in the valley from winter, as the valley is completely snow-free. Snow starts at Kebro. Pictures are from several visits to Javorca in February.

Some snapshots from wanderings under Javorca.
Today I met Geppo and Milan up there, who like me are quite in love with Golte. Geppo rushed it with his group already over Tirske peči, Milan somewhere up over Požganija. After a pleasant chat we descended together a bit adrenaline-filled velik nasmeh

and thus made our meeting even nicer. How it looked, Geppo has already described under Tirske peči. velik nasmeh

Next time just say for the swallow. velik nasmeh

Yesterday afternoon's visit to Javorca and again it was nice. On the way back I took an unplanned detour from the usual path and discovered a new nice climbing passage on one of the ridges by Okence. But Golte in the afternoon are even more beautiful to me, more mystical than in the morning. Especially when the sun sets, they are wonderful.

What would Janez do without Golte,
his "paths" are energy for the heart,
like a chamois over cliffs,
since Javorca has steep slopes in March.

Yesterday's holiday was weather-wise gloomy and some swear that the "gliha" is the state our country is in…. mrk pogled

But let's leave politics and go higher.. nasmeh

A cloudless, sunny morning takes my colleague and me under Golte. We visit "our" Janez and together head to Golte. The purpose of the meeting is exploring the "Land of cairns". cool

A bit disturbed by dampness and consequently slippery rocks and of course grass. There's plenty of that in this area. Janez has a developed strategy for approaches/descents: soft – medium - hard velik nasmeh

. We choose medium and the decision is right….
The colleague at the start decided to count the rocky peaks where we'll stand equipped with cairns. But I think she didn't succeed and if I asked her now, she would answer 100%: "no idea, a lot"! velik nasmeh

In short, conditions were wet and slippery in places. Occasionally clouds right over our heads. And if it's so warm further, some lizard will peek out…. cool

Now I know I'm not the only culprit that the fence is getting more and more rickety zavijanje z očmi

Today with colleague exploring underground world at the end under Alpine Garden. While setting up belay above wall colleague discovers entrance to smaller unknown cave. After checking it well, we tackle our original goal. Cave in overhanging wall below us. Access by rope from top and quite demanding. But we succeed anyway. Plans were two more caves, but wall there still so wet we leave for later. When changing backpacks to lighter, head to Javorca and conclude today's quite adrenaline adventures.
