Javornik above Črni Vrh

Today Javornik appeared to us in two seasons namely winter and blooming spring.Gloves were very welcome in the wind and fog,which cleared around noon and spring returned to Javornik in the most beautiful light.On the path still some snow and ice,which don't hinder walking.We started and ended today's excursion a bit above Črni Vrh.

On the southern slopes, large bells are already ringing

Gentian is a flower that delights the eyes

Today on winter hike.Started at Črni Vrh, path dry, above Kanjim dolom snow starts on the trail, otherwise fog, cold and occasionally wind that cuts into the face.Otherwise real winter conditions.Despite fog very nice! velik nasmeh

Today David and I decided to go to Javornik. From Lom we went past the ski slope (only the lower lift was operating) and along the snow-covered forest trail towards the summit. Conditions ideal, still plenty of snow, skiing was pleasant, a bit on the slope, a bit on natural slopes. Diverse landscape as always to admire. In Črni Vrh you must stop at Metka, where the food is really still home-made and people extremely friendly. nasmeh

Near the ski slope a forest path leads past this towards the summit.

The path is trodden, twice you have to take off the skis when crossing the stream.

When you come out of the forest, a white plateau opens up before you.

Then you have to descend a bit, either through the forest or along the trail

The tower from which the view is wonderful and extensive, although not entirely clear today

Then we skied to the hut, which I think was open. We didn't stop.

Then again up through the forest, there we took off skis and went on foot.

While it's almost summer in the valley, on Javornik we can still find snow in many places and scenes of awakening spring.

One's heart jumps at the sight of the beautiful winter fairy tale, which of course didn't last long, the sun was too strong and the snow was on the ground in a moment. First time this winter we walked on snow and it was really pleasant, especially on the path from Črni Vrh, which is written on our skin. On sunny sides it was so flat that we often stopped and surrendered to the sun rays. The hut is closed during the week, so we brought all the goodies that we enjoy in the mountains. Road to the hut is cleared of snow and passable.

otiv@ Small group, more male population than gentle sex. We decided for visit to Javornik, your visit was still in 2013, we visited in first half of 2014. Temperatures satisfactory, warm sun warmed us, along paths spring flowers peeked from under snow. All participants commented and asked each other what your intention is to post more than 50 photos from mentioned Javornik visit. Doesn't matter if weekday or weekend. All shots probably not from one, but you have "stock" at home from previous trips. All who visit our beautiful peaks a bit envy you /most not so keen to photo/, we are such that we make some shots and that's enough. For most this hobby too expensive, rather spend money on petrol /vapors/, steel horse brings us to suitable height so no extra puffing uphill. Everyone burdened with backpack, huts closed this time unfortunately, suits us best food brought from home. Regards. nasmeh

Today at Javornik, weather more sour, fog and light rain that froze somewhere. But there were spots of south wind where it was really warm. Snow melting, but from hut to summit icy and snow crusty. On way back a bit wet, in hut nicely served and warmed up!

Snow seen only here and there, so conditions excellent for hiking. Many visitors today, certainly due to wonderful weather. nasmeh

Today on Javornik and Abram via Slovenian mountain trail. Tour start at Cola, from where we reached Javornik in two hours. Followed descent to Podkraj and then another 10 km gravel to Abram, arrived after good six hours walking. Whole path dry and without features, just 27 km long.
Sadly cloudy and no views available.

Yesterday to Javornik on forest road to hut, snow just a trace, very windy towards top and path icy in places towards top, but can get up without crampons.

At top by tower special winter atmosphere with snow sculptures. nasmeh
