Kamniška Bistrica - Kamniško Sedlo

All that's missing is for journalists without their own knowledge to start writing posts with this UI crap. I asked Chatgpt40 exactly the same question and got a completely different but fully argued answer. So what's true? The photo shows an old, moss-covered stone wall in the forest above Kamniška Bistrica valley. It's the remnant of a wall that was part of the built enclosure or fence of the fužine works in Kamniška Bistrica, where Železarna Preska (known also as "Fužine v Kamniški Bistrici") operated in the 19th century. These walls had several purposes: Impounding and water – for diverting and retaining water that powered fužine bellows and hammers. Defensive and protective – as enclosure around the ironworks' economic buildings. Boundary/fencing – for protecting the industrial complex and separating functional parts (work sites, coal storage, ore etc.). Since the fužine in Kamniška Bistrica failed already in the 19th century, today only a few walls, foundations and embankments remain, which nature has slowly overgrown – similar to what's seen on your photo.

Thanks to you too, Korl, for the in-depth and exhaustive answer. I also think it's much closer to the truth than the thing with game.

In many places on Primorska they gained arable area on such made terraces. They "got rid of" stones and got flat land.

Such a wall cannot stop roe deer, doe, chamois, deer or wild boar—not even a much higher one.

I fully agree with @korl. UI apps often give completely different answers to the same question. That's why I put my answer in quotes and topped it with a smiley. Now for fun I put the same question and picture next to chatGPT into other UI apps and got different answers (Bard, Bing AI, Perplexity, Deepseek and Grok). And it's true: mostly they conclude it's an old wall meant for what korl writes; few mention game. My suggestion: let the guys in labs keep working and refining things. In two, three years show them this old wall again to see how far development has come

Since for Vel'ka this is my second favorite mountain destination, I decided last night without hesitation for the saddle. I leave the car at the lower parking at minus three degrees with about six vehicles. I warm up quickly, as the first step is steep. Real snow starts at Pastirci, growing exponentially with height. I enjoy good steps almost to Kamrca, when two youngsters ruin them for me on return. From here on, I need much more power on the ascent, there's tons of drifted snow, often the pole sinks to the handle in the snow. Heavily out of breath, I reach the hut after almost two hours of walking. Warm small stove and tea, change of clothes, delicious sandwich and quickly out to the sun. Obligatory to the edge, where I snap everything that's interesting to me. My old calcined fingers despite sun and no wind start boycotting, of course I oblige them, put them in the pocket and head down the valley...

That's right, this isn't exactly "new" (unless they've expanded them from in front of the hut elsewhere), because it was definitely there at least last fall. Regardless of your opinion on all this, I recommend installing that "pink" app anyway, before the trip "drag" the marker to the desired spot and check if there's a parking fee. OK, sometimes they charge through other providers (e.g. Cerkniško or Završniško Lake), but mostly still (also) through these. And you can continue checking if you have enough funds on your payment card so nothing unpleasant surprises you, like e.g. in some notorious places in B...
