We were at Kamnik Saddle today and as the weather suggested lots of people too. Path is well trodden, just downhill when snow melts a bit it slips, so crampons not superfluous.

Nice photos, hope frost presses into valley too so no muddy trails. Next weekend hopefully similar weather.

Wonderful, my husband and I were also there Saturday 19.1.2008 at K.saddle. Not so many visitors as yesterday, a bit cloudy but worth the effort, especially back to valley. Whoever still thinks decide and go boldly.

The room condition is satisfactory, but that you are the only ones overnighting in the winter room no one can guarantee - squeeze a bit and it'll be warmer, right.

I think it's not very smart to hike to Kamnik Saddle and Grintovec in these conditions because of avalanches.

On Kamnik Saddle in the lower part you'll break your leg before an avalanche triggers up top.

Hello! I'm curious if you three guys and a girl went to Grintovec. At Kamnik Saddle it was really fantastic on Friday.

Where does snow start, is it possible from the house in Kamniška Bistrica to go a bit higher by car?

Today I was up there, snow starts below Pastirci (crampons mandatory). The weather was wonderful, except below the summit and up top it was windy.

I was there last Friday. I drove to Jermanca. Snow is a couple hundred meters below Pastirci. Crampons, gaiters mandatory, on top it was windy, some snowdrifts there were. Winter room is open to warm up. Saw some board tracks, otherwise not many visitors.

Hi, On Saturday we went to Kamnik Saddle despite foggy weather. No snow up to the shepherds, but it starts right a bit higher. On the forest path we met lots of small animals - mice. From shepherds up the snow was compact, no sinking, towards the top already quite suitable for crampons. That day we experienced snowfall, rain, strong and cold wind, then sun and calm. Towards midday (around 10am) it cleared a bit so some views were there. It was quite interesting.

30.04.2008 With a friend we did the same tour, but have to say, snow is already much less than in your pics. Recommend to all who can't wait for end of winter (in mountains)!
