On an exceptionally nice first day of the new year it pulled me up here. For walking the trail small crampons suffice, as in the morning above Pastirci the path was still heavily frozen. Hut warm and stocked, quite some visitors. Some people also headed towards Brana. Road dry and almost without potholes.

Yesterday was my last time this winter velik nasmeh

up there. Hut and around full of diligent workers preparing it for season start this weekend. Bosses again popular Simon and Jerca, as they say this is the nicest part of our country.
Road to start super, cut trees already removed. No snow on trail anywhere, fresh morning approach real pleasure, no need to drag winter gear anymore. Of course doesn't apply to neighboring peaks, approach to Sukavnik especially still very dangerous and demanding. Martinčkanje in calm on dry grass - five stars.

They are already preparing the hut for the start of the season.

Alpine chough. The food lures it very close.

In the morning visited my favorite hut keepers at the saddle, their season slowly ending. They had quite some visitors, weather quite nice. Sun hits Kamrca only at ten, so no need to start too early. On top a bit windy, I usually retreat to Logarska side, complete calm there. Road super, on trail lies a massive beech, which many a Ribnica guy would be happy with on his yard.

Apparently the traffic sign every winter staple, this time my car stopped already below in nice company. In new boots merrily puff up the slope, trail pleasant, dry. Surprisingly overtake few people, where did they go. To the gully? Crampons on at Pastirci, snow hard in places and no need to follow deep steps all time. Up top warm open hut delights me and happily lounge by stove. Tea, sandwich and of course dry clothes, then to edge to photo. Little sun appears, no wind. Yay.
Despite crampon issues I'm a whole hour and a half faster than Friday to Kredarica. May such form last as long as possible. nasmeh

Descent without crampons, Vibram soles not even a shadow of those made decades ago.

Yes, the sign has been staple for some winters. But interesting last week someone on one fb hiking group claimed it wasn't there that day. Guy hikes hills quite a bit. Maybe someone messed with urban corporation velik nasmeh

If it's nicely snowy police probably won't drive up...even if some malicious guy calls them cool

Otherwise fines were written a lot 2 winters ago. Never before, and last winter as far as I know not. There were sporadic cases in between (not only winter) when there were
actually works (logging, road renovation).

Those aren't police, but wardens; snow on Jermanci fell less than in Ljubljana.

Back then, 2 years ago, the police wrote the fines. Regarding the wardens, there were even some unofficial information saying that they had a ban from the municipality to go there.
I know there was less snow there. But already at 15cm the road can be fun velik nasmeh

Again some pics for friends, dreamed of beer in the hut, but today unfortunately closed. Next time. Quite a few visitors though.

Taken yesterday from Dedec, I don't recommend microspikes. Ice axe and "proper" crampons. cool

Hi,
went Sunday morning from Kamniška Bistrica...snow and bit of ice starts below Pastirji. There I put on microspikes and got to hut no problem. Little snow for this time of year...

On Tuesday before shift up. Crampons stayed in backpack, but especially there under Pastirci quite slippery. In winter conditions can change day by day anyway, good to have winter gear with you.

Today from Jermanca to saddle and back. Path was without peculiarities. Packed snow started about 50m above Kamrica. It was wet but didn't break through. Met some hikers. Some had those big crampons, others without, one dog companion was barefoot. Seemed to me I'd be most noble if I put on my small crampons from winter gear stash in backpack just in case. It was quite right.

At the flag on the saddle itself you can nicely see how the other side looks. 100% winter, though not much snow. Up there it's quite dry but not icy. Little wind, sun that early ones probably had in abundance started to be covered by clouds, so didn't linger long at the hut.

On descent spotted a herd of about ten chamois crossing the snowfield under Brana. Glad to see them, haven't seen so many together for a long time.

No tickets on parked cars, sign stands firm. Near the sign some huts, some look quite new. Seemed residents from their balconies somewhat displeased looking at cars driving by.
