Kojca (1303m)

Print
Tadej30. 12. 2008 20:01:53
Today we ascended to Kojca from Vrh Ravni pass (road to here is plowed and salted). Snow up to about 50cm is hard and bears human weight. Over the hard snow layer there is about 5cm of new snow, mostly wind-blown into drifts. We descended to Zakojca (this path is poorly trodden) and then returned to starting point by road.

Since I don't know if Kojca is part of Idrija-Cerkno path detour, I wonder if there's a stamp on top? zmeden

When there's no stamp you can get it, I think at least at Fladr or ... I don't know where!

Yesterday's day in the valley was not promising at all, so we decide to blow it off from this gray fog a bit higher and choose Kojca as our goal. At the Vrh Ravni pass, cold greeted us, but the path to Kojca soon makes it warm for you. When you step out of the fog and the sun embraces you, it warms the soul too. The path is super, but on the descent caution is needed, as the terrain is wet, and icy in some places. On the top, a beautiful sea of fog below us, wonderful views and warm like spring. It was quite hard for us to return to the cold and fog. I take this opportunity to wish all lovers of the Hribi.net forum and mountain lovers all the best in the New Year 2012 and many more safe steps and pleasures in our mountains.velik nasmeh

When there are no conditions higher up, lower hills come in turn. I decide on an afternoon trip to Kojca, to the top there is little snow, windblown, on the top half a meter and it sinks in some places, there is a track. Nice view of the sea and probably the Dolomites were visible.

Yesterday's "circular" trip to Kojca - up from Orehek village and down to Zakojca, filled us with new energy. Practically no snow on the path anymore. In some places the path was muddy, but not annoying. In short, really nicely spent day. Don't forget, nice welcome at Flander farm with excellent and moreover cheap food.
I didn't see the bivouac on Kojca in the previously posted photos.

You've probably figured out that we do some easier tours together with Tadej. Today we went to Kojca. Start at the railway in Hudajužna village. Then along macadam to Zakojca village. Then marked path to the top. Lots of leaves on the path, need to watch the trail. But well marked. If trail not visible, follow marks on tree trunks. Before summit nice trail through meadow. Mowed along the trail. Summit surprises with newer well-equipped bivouac where you can even get beer and schnapps, home-made - three choices. Box for payment nearby. Hope hikers are honest and pay for what they drink. Down we went on newly made path towards Bukovo village. This path unmarked, probably hunting path that enthusiastic members maintaining shelter want to revive - all praise. Lower it joins unmarked but well-trodden path to Bukovo village. Lower we hit marked path to Bukovo. For this descent need good orientation sense so unmarked paths don't mislead.

I've looked at Kojca from quite a few summits, but honestly it didn't particularly attract me. Then the view of it in snowy form in an article published last month in Delo caught me. Why not finally go there once? It has earned our attention lately from Kobilja glava, Kotla, and before from Porezen. So on Saturday we finally drove near it to Zakojca village, known also for Bevk homestead.

In first part of path, ascending above village, we kept looking back at Zakojca, attracting views with increasingly higher backdrop of Tolmin mountains above, the village itself alluringly golden in morning sun.

We did circular route, back via Vrh Ravni and on partly icy road to start. On ascent above Kojca on snowy poorly trodden track, more footprints than firm track. And over avalanche area where even those footprints got lost.
We thought probably many more ascend from other directions than from Zakojca.

Tour analysis we did at Pri Flandru, as it was closest and recommendations goodnasmeh

Kojca is my "home" hill. When I think I know it, I stumble on thematic path and even "via ferrata".
Usually start from Bukovo village, this time drive to Vrh Ravni pass. Go on marked path to summit. Soon above Lipje new sign directs to thematic path. This path revives old story known in Orehek and Jesenica villages, so it doesn't fade.
Follow nicely cleared path and soon new surprise. Secured mountain path and on Kojca, which ancestors mowed carefully even 50 years ago. When out of forest, see nicely arranged Hudičev rob. After sign, tempted by nicely shaped rock and soon sit on top of boulder left by Devil long ago.
If follow trail from Hudičev rob, join Nova pot for descent to valley. Since aiming for Kojca summit this time, back 100m to sign directing up serpentine. Path soon from forest to ridge with bench and table for rest and views. Continue along ridge to hunting trail. There sign right through nice woods, soon path up to summit. Admire flowers along path. Also irises for which Kojca and Kotel known. Summit unique view on carpet of blooming grass.
On descent, also look at Divji rob

Praise to MD VIDAUNK for arranged paths and characteristically arranged Kojca summit with haystack.

Our hero doesn't know Slovenian statistical regions.
2x violated regulations, driving from Central Slovenia region through Upper Carniola region and then recreating in Goriška region.
Shame he didn't stop at Žunar under Ermanovec to stock up on meat products and also at Bevkov vrh where he could buy home dairy products.
From Kladje a bit left then right. As he boasted, he knows both supply points well.
History repeats.

Traverse Bukovo - Vrh hriba - Kojca - Ravna Njiva - Bukovo. Circular tour just to air out winter gear. Didn't expect such nice views as experienced above the fog. Almost didn't want to go back to valley under fog cover.
