Korada (812m)

Yesterday I visited Korada. The hike despite cold weather and snow flurries was okay! It annoyed me that the shelter was closed, good thing I stamped the badge for the extended mountain trail right at the top, where the stamp is brand new. Probably just installed recently. I recommend checking beforehand if the shelter is open, because I checked online and it said it was open but it wasn't.jezenjezen

Hi,

no snow. If going from Plave you walk almost to the top along the access road to the houses below Korada. Good luck.

Although Korada is an insignificant little hill for many, 712 elevation meters must be overcome to the top of this beautiful viewpoint. The path is suitable for everyone, especially on hot days, as it runs almost to the top through beautiful forest. On the first third of the path it is shared by hikers and "downhillers". The markings for the bike trail winding from tree to tree are not eye-friendly, but they calm down at the sight of flowering meadows and lush vegetation along the path. Korada isn't very crowded, so it's a real paradise for those seeking peace.

Since I wasn't able to feel the Julian Alps under my feet I went to see them from afar. At least something. The path to Korada has already been described many times. And since there are no changes from the last post, I'm attaching some photos from today. Beautiful views, beautiful transition into autumn.

Time didn't allow me to drive far to a bigger mountain, so I decided my today's goal would be Korada at 812 m. From Nova Gorica I drive to Goriška Brda, more precisely Solkan – Hum – Vrhovlje, where I turned left towards Lig, and continued to my path's starting point, namely the Bela, Nozno - Lig intersection. From there I easily ran a few km to the foot of Korada, where the road branches; if we want, we can turn left here towards Hunting hut Korada and continue to Korada hut. I decided to continue on the asphalt road towards Lig. At the intersection for Zarščina hamlet at the partisan monument (in 1943 here 1st Soča Brigade and Brisko-Beneški detachment and Garibaldi battalion swore oath) I turned left and continued to St. Genderca churchlet (standing since 16th century and destroyed in WWI). From there across meadow to the hut or shelter on Korada (also operates this time Friday to Sunday), where I refreshed and continued my loop to hunting hut on Korada back to the starting point. At Vrtače intersection (where Refreshment place operates Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) is path to Korada from Plave. Whoever wants has from here also Connecting path of three sanctuaries (Sveta Gora – Marijino Celje and Stara gora). From Korada can continue to Sabotin, 3.30 hours walk away.

Our afternoon walk was aimed at Korada. Start was from the Nozno crossroads in Goriška Brda. From there to Korada and back we were accompanied by wind, which was stronger at the top. I expected more snow cover, but the coastal sun had melted it well and it was only here and there, and that only at the top of Korada. Views of the Julian Alps were wonderful, towards Gorizia, Vipava Valley and Italy the fog didn't allow a clear view.

With this post you're not exactly making advertising - among hikers of course, if this is even a MOUNTAIN shelter.

Winter this year also gifted the Gorizia hills. So I went to see how Korada looks dressed in white. It's beautiful. Even in winter. Snow, which there is quite a bit of, appears around 600m. Although others had trampled before us, it was sinking. Not surprising at all, since the thermometer in the valley showed +14, on the hill it wasn't less than +5. I started and ended the tour in the village of Plave.

Today's shorter hike to Korada was perfect for a magnificent start to the year with wonderful views from the snow-covered Alps to the sparkling sea. Although it was around zero, the sun warmed well in the middle of the day, and the wind had calmed down. There's quite a lot of snow and it's already starting to transform noticeably. Paths are well trodden, no ice yet (except some on the gravel road from the hut).

I started today's trip at the church of Sv. Križ above Kojsko, where I enjoyed the first views, and for the hike to Korada above the weekend cottage which is 2 km from Vrhovle. I usually start walking here if I drive to the starting point by car. To the top is 1 hour walk. Despite the snow by the road there was enough space to park a few cars.
From the top I descended across snowy grassy slopes to the north side and then a bit along the gravel road to the birch I always admire. Then past the church of Sv. Genderce I climbed back to the top and circled past the hunting hut returning on the same path to the starting point.
This time I awaited sunset in arctic cold on the tower in Gonjače. On the top due to strong wind I couldn't stay long, so I walked up and down the stairs for a good 0.5 hours and occasionally stopped on the leeward side of the supporting pillar. I would have had to wait a few more minutes for the glowing colors but couldn't hold out. Caught them a few minutes later driving through Kojsko and took some more shots.
in Podsabotin I greeted two beautiful donkeys1
