We parked the car above Sočergo at St. Kvirik church. Followed the trail that gently descends along the karst edge all the way to the natural bridge. Descended through it on the path that turns back, this time under the karst edge past numerous tens-of-meters-high walls and overhangs. To finish, had to climb steeply up with cable and steps to the trail leading back to start. Clear weather, some light bora; the whole trail took us good two hours.

After Saturday enjoyment on Visoki Kurji vrh and Mojstrovica we headed for the sun again - this time Monday towards the coast. Start at Sv. Kvirik, descend under natural bridge to "Istria's ears", then up short climbing path back to eagle's nest and same way past bunker to car. Nice loop, especially spiced with so much blooming ruja. velik nasmeh

Guessing where the sun would shine for me Saturday from the fog. It happened a bit after Vrhnika. From Črni Kal turn towards Gračišče and Movrač and towards Dvori. There I realize I missed the turnoff so turn around and find it. Asphalt bit bumpy so chassis suffers a bit. Park at hiking signs.

Head to Sv. Kvirik on direct path. At start meet no one, but when I reach Rob i.e. path junction (left Orlovo Gnezdo) start meeting them, just before Kvirik also kid dressed as knight and ask mom if Carnival is approaching by chance. zmeden

At Sv. Kvirik munch on brioche. From Kvirik head back part way. Knight and mom already returning. On question why took off helmet, mom says hot. I say soldier must always have helmet on! mežikanje

Then at mentioned junction go straight and on less traceable path to Orlovo gnezdo.

Via ferrata to overhangs wouldn't find if couple hadn't climbed up it. When descending cut myself a bit on rusty cable and disinfect little wound - well, thank god vaccinated against tetanus. After crossing slope already at overhangs. There meet again group with dog I saw at Kvirik and they ask how to avoid nasty path on Rob back to Kvirik. Told them what I knew (from natural bridge past my parked car and on newer path back).

Under natural bridge circle back to Orlovo gnezdo, then past that bridge back to car. And there meet that group third time. Asked if drive them to Sočerga or car. Ladies could manage otherwise... mežikanje

Of course why not and dog too. Tell lady hold it tight in lap cuz if jumps at neck we're all in shit eek

En route chat about anything but politics so one gent reminds we're on hike... mežikanje

To Gračišče and left to Sočerga drop them. Who'd think drive dog too! mežikanje

Me for finale head bit to Trieste. Info: from Črni Kal closest to Osp on shortcut less known cuz small border crossing. On Italian side after drive through two (probably Slovenian) villages practically drop on Trieste access which comes from better known Škofije.

Today from start Komare past Sv. Kvirik walked to Orlovo gnezdo, from there down to overhangs Veli Badin. Super trip!!!

Though weather not the best mrk pogled

, today with husband headed to Sočerga. Parked at little church of Sv. Kvirik and on well-marked trail to Orlovo gnezdo. En route down to bunker. From Orlovo gnezdo past natural bridge down to overhangs and up short climbing wall back to Orlovo gnezdo. Weather quite pleasant, a bit windy and sun forcing through clouds. Ruja still plenty. Really nice trip! nasmeh

This narrow throat widens below into a deep and wide pit

Suuuper, thaaaanks. I read and noticed VanSims wrote the cables are a bit rusty and one bracket a bit loose. Hope they fixed it in a year, my hiking buddy is a bit "scaredy-cat", don't want her to chicken out. nasmeh

Hello!
Must say, the path past eagle's nest (via brackets and cable) has been closed for six years due to bird protection. Big sign warns of hiking ban nearby (at access from natural bridge - at least was there). Thus path no longer maintained and not on new map "Slovenska Istra, Čičarija, Brkini, Kras" from 2011. So hiking and injuries - at own risk...

@pohodnica56: Brackets are in perfect condition, solid. Cable is really rusty, even blooming, and one peg is quite loose or not in wall anymore. If buddy is "scaredy-cat" I suggest from Eagle's nest continue to natural bridge and descend there under overhangs.

Trip is wonderful, we spiced it with Hrastovlje visit. Safe steps.

Just a reminder of the red dogwood this time and the Istrian ears. Start a bit behind Gračišče village for a nice four-hour trip, extend as wished via Lačna and Kuk.

Here is such a wonderful world that one could always return and always marvel at these beauties, but with so much unexplored and unvisited, repeating sometimes really doesn't fit. Will have to leave some for next lives!

How is sumac on Karst Edge, I don't know. At our Sabotin (609 m) sumac along the ridge already turned red, better said brownish. Lower it's just gaining color. At Goriški Karst - Cerje (343 m) also some bushes colored, but no real color here either. Also at Doberdob and Trieste Karst nothing different. We'll see how current rain and forecasted frost act on sumac. In such fire of luxurious colors as Karst glowed last year, probably not this year.
