Krempa (from Borovec near Kočevska Reka)

Yesterday we went to check the narcissus patch on the saddle between Krempa and Krokar. This year they bloomed at least 2 weeks earlier, many still in buds. The gentle ascent to the grassy saddle is ideal even for small children, but don't let them near the steep edge dropping to Kolpa valley. Worth going up to the viewpoint below Krempa, but not for the vertiginous or careless.
Regards, Ljubica

It is little known that the narcissus site on Krempa is the southernmost in Europe. Of course we talk about natural sites.
We've somehow celebrated Golico and it's known even beyond our borders. Kolpa valley and Kočevsko are still waiting to be discovered.

Yesterday was still the right time to see narcissus at the site. We extended the path a bit - started in Dolnja Briga - first on gravel road to Kočevska path and then over Borič to the top of Krempa (together about 3 hours), descended actually past the site further, through primeval forest - huge fallen trees, real obstacle course - to the junction for Cerk and Firstov rep - to the hunting hut. Together about 5 hours walking and 650m ascent. Gorgeous, dry path - in wet I strongly advise against!

I'm showing a wonderful path to Krempa saddle (866 m), above Borovec near Kočevska Reka on the edge of Krokar primeval forest under Unesco protection. On the saddle a wonderful surprise awaited: blooming narcissi spread over meadows creating fairytale atmosphere. From saddle descended to Lake Reska, artificial lake built in 1978. Lake home to many animal and plant species, including white-tailed eagle, Europe's largest raptor. Eagle Trail runs along lower lake part, interesting varied path with nice views of lake and forests. I invite you to watch my video in two parts and experience this adventure with me. Thanks for watching, see you next time!
