I park at the starting point for Mrzli vrh in Krn village and set off on my own through forest, meadows, nettles towards Lužnica. Below Škofič I turn under the wall and go above the monument to Peske. I descend to the north side to Batognica and Krn. I return back to the saddle and descend past pl.Kuhinje and below Kuhinja parking left up the concrete road, gravel back to Krn village.

Hello,

I'm interested if anyone has been to Krn in the last few days? Has the snow from the last snowfall completely melted on the path from Planina Kuhinje? (on the camera it looks like there's no more... just prefer first-hand info).

Also interested if anyone knows if snow has perhaps melted on the north side of Krn on the path from Lepena?

Mavi12, if these photos, taken on Friday, 10.10, help you. I assume it's still white on the S side.

Hi, has anyone been to Krn from Lepena past Krnsko jezero in the last few days? Is the path from that north side now dry or still snow somewhere on the path?

We didn't go to Krn but from where we walked no snow that would significantly affect passability was visible; Oh, the picture is from yesterday

It was nice today. After all, it's Sunday.

it was pleasantly warm in front of the shelter.

Today we did the ascent from Kuhinja in the direction we take in dry conditions, although there is snow in the gully quite a bit below Zaslap. We returned via Batognica, Lužnica and Leskovec back. There is little snow but the walking conditions were good as it doesn't sink where there is a bit more.

path from Kožljak upwards is mostly like this...

summit plateau-here and on Prag there is a bit more snow

lake under snow; path is bare only lower from the klopce

Planina Kuhinja - Krn 20.12.2025. It's not about whether a person lives happily or unhappily at some moment, since both pass. What's important is how much that moment enriched him. (A. Grabar). Winter is hiding these days. Because yesterday conditions were really pleasant for hiking. Winter gear stayed in the backpack. Very little wind on the path and at the summit. Maybe next year snow cover on the summit too. Now the rocks are exposed.

From data on hribi.net I put together a table for fun that reveals activities of 5 selected long-time posters on this forum. We all posted one report in the last 3 days. Darinka delights us all year with many reports, she's my birth year, but we haven't met yet. I've met Ločanka and lijaneja in person and both attach lots of photos to the report. Ločanka has a nice habit of labeling panoramas with peak names, which seems more than welcome for lesser-known mountains. All three are among the absolutely most active. Added Piko, whom I haven't (yet) met and who by style and frequency falls into the same category as me. She posts tour descriptions rarely, but chooses photos wisely and each post gets lots of visits. Maybe someone laughs at the table!? Stats include every reply or comment, which blurs the value of the numbers a bit....

Opazovalec, thanks for the interesting comparison. In so many years a ton of photos pile up. Fewer comments. At least from my side. Never thought I'd ever know how to use a computer. I remember the first post. I think it was Krn, when I uploaded all photos wrong. Ločanka wrote that someone is a bit twisted. But seems even in mature years you learn something. If you have the will. Had a good mentor (son), who just sat next to me and helped with first steps. Then it gets easier. nasmeh

Here in Polhograjsko hribovje snow, cold, fog and ice, in Cerkno snowdrops are blooming. Start pl.Kuhinja, sunny weather, dress but soon undress, the higher I go the warmer and hotter it gets. At the shelter dress and slowly to Krn summit. At top cold wind from north blowing. In shelter better. With poles to summit, no crampons put on, path snowy, trodden but right beside all bare. Descent lower on dry path and my way through grass back to start.
