Hello!

Are crampons still needed on the path to Krn (S. Korena path, Krnska škrbina, Batognica, Prag) or is ice axe enough?

Regards

S. Korena path walked 3 weeks ago and then there was still one snowfield in the lower part over which crampons were needed, otherwise no snow on the path.

Does anyone know if the path above the lake, which has melted, is passable.

Path walked 12.7.2008 and it is normally passable, to the top only three short snowfields which do not pose great slipping danger

Hello!
Finally been to Krn Lake and Krn. Start from Lepena - Dr. Klement Jug hut via forest path all the way to the lake, which is wonderful and the weather did its bit. Then to Krn and Gomišček shelter for stamp. Super tour, if you have more time it's downright fairy-tale!!!nasmeh

I'm wondering how long it would take for a loop from Planina Kuhinja and return via Batognica and past the lake in Lužnica back to Kuhinja? Thanks.

does anyone know if there's snow and how much on the path to Krn from Planina Kuhinja?

Hi buddy. I think there's none, at least yesterday there was nothing white to see from Golak. But it's forecasted for Thu-Fri. What about pics from Slavnik? I'll reply to you-Košuta. Take care. Lpmežikanje

From Kuhinja via the left gully to Srednji vrh and over Batognica to Krn. Snow starts between 1600 and 1800 m and there's relatively little (up to 40 cm).
The nice day was spoiled for me by the sight of cars that despite the ban drive higher and higher and park everywhere on the pastures. It seems to me that environmental awareness here is steeply declining, although the world trend should be the opposite. I also don't understand why lately the barriers at the entrances to the core area of TNP are open (e.g. Zadnjica, Loška Koritnica).

At Planina Kuhinja a nice morning awaits me. I drive a bit higher below Planina Slapnik, less than a minute to snow, then on skis to the top. Below frozen but not icy, higher hard, caution needed due to slipping. The view of course fitting the sunny day. Otherwise I was about an hour too early, but the ski descent was good anyway, lower even excellent as it had softened slightly.
