I agree about Pl. Ravne.
One very nice location with beautiful panorama for photographing larches is also Krniska glavica (Jof di Sompdogna) above Zajzero/Dunjo.
As for the best weekend, considering how the weather is messing with us this year, the real weekend for viewing larches will probably be sometime mid-week
My bet is on the last week of October/first week of November
