mandatory gear for Triglav

@Kozorog
You really are rotten, not worse, yeah if the mountaineer is poorly equipped and if an accident happens then he should pay for the rescue himself, as if nothing can happen to you with all possible equipment, please don't write nonsense.
Then chronic drunks who fall, where they get injured, come first, they should pay for treatment themselves, or drug addicts, they should pay themselves, or cigarette addicts, they should pay for new organs themselves....NO everyone has equal rights, so providing help regardless of previous condition (drunk, poorly equipped mountaineer, drug addict)...

jprim wrote well that experiences give the most and surely before ascending Triglav you need a full-day hike, after which everyone can assess the amount of fluid and food for themselves. And even then you know if you need some foot cream etc., if another day of walking awaits (question for two-day ascent to Triglav).
In short, backpack, helmet and good shoes are the basis, you also need to take something to change into, also warm (despite the sun, the wind isn't always warm up there), everything else based on experiences and own needs... when overnighting a headlamp is useful for night trips to the toilet (night up there is really night), and some lighter footwear isn't too much for time in the hut...

I completely agree with Kozorog... because then you see some Czechs who are in high mountains in sandals, as if strolling on the beach... and then rescuers have to risk their lives because of such...

Good thing many people go to the mountains and do something for their health.

really don't know who is rotten here and writes nonsense...of course something can happen to you even with all necessary equipment, but the task of everyone going to the mountains should be to first take care of their own safety to the greatest extent possible (also with necessary equipment)...and I think Kozorog wasn't talking about treatment costs, which you're ranting about (obviously you didn't get it) but about rescue costs...ask some mountain rescuer how much he gets paid to go in the middle of the night to rescue someone who rushed into high mountains without necessary equipment, proper physical fitness, experience...unfortunately it's like that, we all have equal rights in these cases...precisely because of the heartiness and selfless willingness to help of our mountain rescuers...and unfortunately too many people take that right to equality...you too for example who goes without helmet to Triglav...(and even proud that your only essential equipment is good shoes)...read the latest news today, maybe you'll get it...

Mate07..
I don't know into which category of mountaineers you mention in your post you fit and I don't even care! But I know a whole bunch like those you listed don't belong in the mountains for their own safety. I know an accident can always happen and let's hope there are as few as possible. But it's true, whether you want to admit it or not, that there are far fewer chances for an accident if you're well-equipped and fit condition-wise. And one more thing those categories you write about really don't belong in the mountains (unequipped in sneakers, alcoholics, junkies..) It's a fact if you'd read my discussion properly you wouldn't write such nonsense. Everyone deserves help, let's be clear! but let some pay for it themselves if they don't use proper gear or are drunk or high on drugs and other psychophysical substances... soon we'll see some drug being dealt in front of mountain huts... and???

It's just another of all-knowing Matej's ramblings that we've been subjected to so many times.
I agree with Kozorog too. But I ask Matej if he has brakes on his car. Does he tell everyone the same to mind their own business, because if he hasn't caused an accident no one should meddle with him, and on top advises everyone around to imitate him. If there's a pile-up the insurance will be screwed so bad it can't get worse because they won't pay him any claim.

If you're capable of going to the mountains without gear as Mateo says ok.nasmeh But until frostbite hits you - giving hell at -25 or whoever encounters an accident in the mountains or helps the injured, I guarantee it looks pretty bad, will always take basic first aid with him, which among hikers is more exception than rule because patching an unconscious hiker with t-shirts and paper tissues doesn't look bad at all. Sports first aid cca 200gr is super or motorbike one heavier but content for mobilization, scissors etc. UNEQUIPPED AND IGNORANT HIKERS SHOULD PAY FOR RESCUES.nasmeh

Well we've come so far that it's not worth following the forum anymore.
Let him take care of himself, I'll go to the mountains equipped as I like, that shouldn't bother you....first come experience, fitness, joy of mountains, what does equipment matter in this case if you don't have what I wrote.

All different, all equal! mežikanje
Everyone has their right and that right is right as long as it's not imposed on others.

I think GRS is quite competent and credible enough to decide in case of accident if something was wrong or not.

Mateo I understand you but what good are experience and love if at -10 you have no gloves or if a stone hits your leg and you have no bit of bandage or gauze to wrap. We're coolvelik nasmeh

I'd add another perspective. Internet is very accessible and whatever you write many people can read (especially we love stupidities:tonguenasmeh. When describing conditions, protective gear and feats you have to be a bit more careful because you don't know who all you're talking to, what experience they have and how they'll understand you. Ultimately you don't want anyone on your conscience.mrk pogled That's why all wise commentators rather exaggerate with suggested gear.

linx! I sign under your comment!

Those various preparations, gels, patches and all sorts of "finoče" that benefit the seller more than the buyer get on my nerves a bit.

But what can we do, shops live off people who can't even help themselves with the most basic things..
To help each other - that's what the forum is for. Whoever is interested in novelties offered in specialized shops should go there and ask. He'll learn (and buy) much more than what he can find on these pages.

And the moon isn't the most favorable either, there's no other explanation (at least if I look under "danger in mountains - 6.6.this year").

Mandatory equipment at least in my opinion for Triglav:

- good boots
- poles
- at least 3 liters of liquid
- helmet

You don't need other equipment.

Mate, don't interpret superficial advice on the general mountaineering forum! The forum is viewed by people who rarely go to the mountains and might take the advice as well-meaning. Yes, in good weather sometimes we need little equipment, but in mountains conditions come when you need to reach for warmer clothes, ice axe, when you avoid them with cables, when a thunderstorm threatens, fresh snow and ice are not excluded in our mountains. Read accidents from years ago and you'll realize that precisely because of poor summer equipment of mountaineers, there was inability to descend mountains (snowy Kočna 20 years ago, Prisank recently etc). Especially during passages of cold fronts which follow now, full equipment of mountaineer is needed.

I agree with viharnik, Mate07 grossly misleads and such posts should be immediately removed (don't know what the editor of this site is doing). He is completely inexperienced or just a provocateur, so far hasn't said anything useful. I suggest no attention be paid to him in the future.
