I join the post. Was yesterday, not worth the visit. And also, not on topic but surprise at closed technical museum in Bistra. Until 1.3.

If I'm correctly informed the museum is closed every winter because of unheated rooms.

Has anyone been to the Gorge these days, I'd like to go when everything is frozen.... When we were there in autumn, we couldn't find where to cross the stream after the 5th waterfall to make a loop trail. The remains of the bridge right under the waterfall are completely broken... Do you have to go higher?

No, not much ice at these temperatures. There was some just before New Year, but only a couple of days. Maybe again if it really freezes... The bridge is above the 5th waterfall, below it you cross the water on stones. If there's lots of (flowing) water, you can't. Maybe some local knows a "bypass" on the right, but it looks pretty steep...

Bojan, ice sucks... I'd rather stick to less slippery ground.

Waterfalls in Pekel are formed. The third one is a bit candlestick-shaped, the fourth has thin ice in the upper part and not many belay options (as always). Ice is hard due to low temperatures, climbing enjoyable.

Hey, can someone write what the condition of the path past the waterfalls is? Are the protections OK?

Today a shorter afternoon trip to Borovnica Pekel. Up past Devil's Tooth, down past Padež, Pokojišče and Pristava. The path was overgrown and poorly marked in some spots. Saw two roe deer from pretty close.

I've been to Pekel only twice so far. A few years ago in 3rd grade of elementary school for the end-of-year trip. Second time once in winter, when we went only to the first waterfall in the snow. Last week morning thunder and rain blew away the hellish waterfalls, today it finally worked. The path is interesting, attractive, well secured up to the third waterfall, but caution is definitely needed. At the fourth waterfall maybe missing a mark, but we found our way. Even though it hasn't rained in the last days, the descent turns out more demanding than the ascent, which is usual. We enjoyed the wild nature thinking what all has happened here - charcoal burners, saws, mills worked here... We can praise PD Borovnica for maintaining the demanding path setup. We also met our acquaintance from the hike on paths of Cankar's mother, who is an excellent connoisseur of Cankar's works, presenting them to us every year. Today we saw that Cankar's mustache is original and he also takes care of the inn's surroundings. But the schedule surprises us, open only after 12:00, closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and holidays...

We've already been to Heaven, so we went to see Hell too . Just in case via the longest path so we wouldn't get there too soon . A look at the map revealed a circular variant along the European long-distance path E7, which splits into two branches right at Borovnica. One branch goes through the gorge, the other bypasses it. The first is well marked, the second is the opposite. Map or GPS app solves everything. We started in Borovnica and slowly climbed past Laz to the marked junction at the intersection of gravel roads. There we turned sharply left towards the indistinct summit of Mali Trebelnik, the village Zavrh and further to Pokojišče. There you need to turn right past the church, although the marks for Borovnica quickly lead straight. Signs for Pekel are constant thereafter, but just before you have to decide for the full gorge tour or the shorter E7 section. The latter avoids the difficult passages in the upper part of the gorge, for which I also miss difficulty warnings. The slopes above Borovniščica are steep, the narrow path deadly dangerous when wet. Unfortunately some have ended their life here in this Pekel. The E7 variant is nicer arranged and safer. We returned past Oholnica, caught some rain and after less than five hours closed the loop. Met no one except in Pekel. How symbolic
