Photo jaunt in the mountains

Well, Pastirica actually doesn't take her little dog to the mountains. She just pastes her on photos with Photoshop to tease various vansimses. As you mention, Pastirica, there are almost no passersby on your (side) paths ...

FotoUrban dog training is a process that starts in the puppy stage when you bring it home, (if the breeder has already done his part, even better) and lasts until its death. Dog is a pack animal and ready to follow the pack leader's will. Just make sure that leader is YOU. Luckily more and more dog owners are aware of this. Mine already knows well not to stray too far (though she probably doesn't know how much 50m is), there's too many tempting things in the backpack. As for poop, in 90% she does it right after meal at home in the garden. In other cases, of course I clean up after her. That's how I taught my students 20 years ago, although some looked at me quite sourly back then . Now to the pics a bit. Yesterday no luck with animals in mountains. But pics of illuminated mountains can be wonderful too. Unfortunately I was about 15min late coming out of TŽ. Mala and Štajerska Rinka are still ok, but for Skuta there was already a bit too much sun. TejaB what if I just photoshop the leash away. To me it aesthetically ruins the photo so much I really rarely meet anyone, especially on ascent. I return, if possible on more normal paths. When I do meet someone, usually the first word is for the dog then petting follows, and hidden supplies from backpack. Then chat, where to, from where, what troubles, can you still get there, what's up there, could it be done ....

Thanks TejaB and congrats on Utah, which aren't easily accessible from any direction. I digress too and not rarely, on Monday's tour at least three times... And today, when the goal was just Rep waterfall, we ended up at Mali Rogatec. In between 2.5h for 700m elevation

Wow, what sharpness, gorgeous! Who would've thought the black one is so furry. If you'd stuck to the goal, probably wouldn't have them, hm? Oh man, what are you doing to me ... Now I gotta go look on i-net where Rep is and where that little Rogac ...

You'll find plenty about Rep on the net. From there onwards there are a thousand roads, cart tracks, cross paths, trails if you want direct. Mali Rogatec is otherwise easiest reached by the road below Kal saddle. At about 1100m the road turns sharply right. Leave it there and climb left up the ridge a good 100m. Summit is indistinct, no cairn. But there was this bumblebee ready to pose.

Fotourban: is a problem, even if well-trained. Some of us can't stand dogs hanging around us, especially if they run free and AMEN. We have the right to that! Here training has nothing to do with it... And since rules are there to be broken here, that's how it is. Also in other areas. That's why we're where we are. Pastirica: yeah cute dog huh. You happy now? Sorry we didn't all bow to him from the start.

Well, a bit more about dogs abroad. Say our neighbor Austria. Saw lots on Rax (near Vienna). Luckily not so many on hiking trails since Vienna folks prefer gondola up with them. Up top at e.g. Otto Haus quite a few. All nicely leashed, even accidentally unleashed ones were friendly (socialized) - nice dogs to look at. All non-dangerous breeds and small dogs. Owners considerate, pulling them away from people if one wanted to sniff... Not like here where at every hut tons unleashed, just waiting for one to rush at you, bark, jump into arms... owner psychologically pressures with "he won't do nothing". Small disappointment only when waiting in top station building for rain to stop to descend, watching people with dogs boarding. Officially only muzzled dogs allowed on gondola. At least that's what it said. Some (stupid cuz they follow rules) really muzzled theirs, others (smart cuz love breaking) not. Cable car guy let everyone up anyway. Umm... they say Balkans start in Vienna, right?

Here I wouldn't want to leave for a while. I've seen many of these beauties already, but they enchant me every time. Nice photos, really.

Lidija, under Montaž there's no fear of not seeing enough of them. When I was there for the first time I photographed them from a great distance because I was afraid they'd run away. Later you can hardly chase them away from the path.

Oh yes, I have one of the best photos with them from there, but to me ours are nicer, more powerful. Those under Skuta or under Bovški Gamsovec. This year an old one was also on the path over Prag. Beautiful animals. The photo is from Montaž.
