I have to say, except some psychopathic dog owners (which we talked about in another thread) I haven't met any 'psychopath' in the mountains either. OK, you meet weirdos, jokers, drunks, those who don't greet,... but really serious psychos no. Already knocking on wood. 
Once my colleague said that when they were running on PST with girlfriends, a completely naked man stood by the path...
Anyway, the pepper spray I have for dogs works on people too... Well, that one with the axe in the intro post (or if he had a knife or something) is really scary.
