@spetovar
It doesn't have to be threaded. The ice axe could just be inserted into the hole, fixed with a pin.

Hello
I'm wondering if anyone knows which store has the largest selection of Planika hiking boots. Wherever I went, either no right size or no model. Everywhere they say they don't know when new shipment comes. Thanks for the answer.

What would be wrong with just using ice axe as shovel handle?
Some shovels still need assembling, so why carry extra shovel handle if ice axe can be handle?

Understand if it wouldn't work.

avalanche gear, crampons, ice axe or ice tools, warm clothes, drinks, food, etc... etc. Backpack much heavier than summer. Plus boots around 2kg, base layer, winter pants... Good for fitness. nasmeh push if you can! backpack easily 10-15kg

You'd have:
1. regular avalanche shovel
2. ice axe and shovel head that together make nice full shovel

That's why I ask! Both same digging quality, same shovel area, option 1 exactly like 2. Difference only save 300g with 2.

What do you choose? Why? Convince me!zavijanje

Instead of giving reasons what deficiency you see if the shovel were assembled from shovel blade and ice axe, you're just "ranting" without reason.

I appreciate that you have your opinion, that's why you said you don't agree with my thinking. The only thing missing is the justification why you think that way and I differently....

Tol, you're overcomplicating things a bit and unnecessarily in a dilemma. Extra grams on the backpack in my experience only hurt with a very heavy backpack already 10kg and more. Normally if it's 200g up down (bad camera, one sandwich) you won't even feel it. Only when you plan to carry more gear in the backpack think about product weight. If you swear by lightness buy from Grivel. I have Ortovox orange shovel and it's totally OK. Extendable and foldable handle. Metal shovels are overpriced. For 60eur they exaggerate, i.e. 120 former marks we used to buy boots for back then.

Tol: You're right, it doesn't have to be threaded and Viharnik, thanks for the link where you can look closer. So tol, you weren't the only one thinking that. About functionality though... If someone has it or plans to get it let them report a bit. Since this is sales topic I'd just write this on that: Has anyone seen an avalanche up close and its consequences? When I arrived with shovel at the avalanche field I just stared blankly. And I'm not saying it's not worth it or useless to have proper winter gear. But I watched rescuers training when they buried 3 dummies for them and they searched and dug them out in 45 min. So if possible avoid avalanche because it's VERY destructive. As for weight it's called physical fitness. Often today mistake is made that mandatory gear is dumped from backpack for higher ascents. Need to know:
1. With 10KG backpack I get to 3000m
2. So with 5KG backpack I'll get to
4000m.
nasmeh Such thinking is wrong. You go to heights where you're mentally AND physically capable. Meters and kilos are symbolic

Got home from detour around Austrian Carinthia (Korensko sedlo-Villach-Ljubelj-Ljubljana).
In Sport 2000 Falle store they have 20% off on ski crampons, on Dynafit original skins 10% which I also took. Touring boots in sizes understandably few left. In other stores Hervis Sport, Intersport like at home still fiddling with discounts. On prices only big flyers hung saying Grose nachlas and only % without numbers ?. Didn't turn to any ascent because at home among all the stuff I loaded in car in morning forgot poles and weather wasn't God knows what, mostly cloudy and foggy. Only view towards Prisank in heights opened some clarity. Attaching pic from Ljubelj.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a sports store in Trieste (I think it's Julija), where they sell mountaineering gear. I heard snowshoes are 60E Salava and 90E TSL. Where is it? Thanks.

"tiptop" hi! I also ran into the same problem this fall because the glue on my randonee skins loosened. Don't do anything else but completely remove the old glue and apply new. After I did it, in a few weeks I did several tours and they hold like new. I'm attaching a link so you can see how it's done, must watch the video on the Colltex site too, you can't mess up. RS56, maybe late, but anyway:

Store »SPORTLER«.
In shopping center:
Centro Commerciale Il Giulia
Via Giulia 75/2

Orientation is not difficult:
- along main street «Carducci» through town;
- past city bus station and covered market a bit further;
- turn right at traffic light onto wide four-lane street »Battisti«, which splits higher up: right »Giulia«. A couple hundred meters ahead, on the right side is the center entrance, store sign »SPORTLER« is visible from the street.
