I think the same. You shouldn't "save" on equipment, since safety comes first.
My self-belaying kit is also made in China.

Cars decades ago also didn't have ABS, airbags, headrests.
Since I drive safely and carefully, I don't need these safety aids. And since I'm so insanely good and experienced with a million kilometers even on the most messed up roads, nothing can happen to me, let alone a mistake…
