I watched the replay. I have to say, it sounded somehow familiar when one of the rescuers talked about bragging and boasting on web forums, which can lead to accidents for the inexperienced who blindly believe such reports and head into the mountains thinking, "he did it completely easily, why not me?" Worth thinking about!

Advising someone what they don't/need for a tour is in my opinion very dangerous, you can be the super-duper equipped alpinist and still get injured quickly, another half-equipped can reach the summit without issues in winter conditions. Everyone should assess the danger in the mountains themselves but take note that gear isn't everything, experience, some course, and a bit more brains. Weather is always first. Decide at the right moment, go on or back. Mountains are eternal, people aren't. Happy 2011

mountains actually aren't eternal either. In the Karavanke area there were Prakaravanke long ago, which eroded, similar with Julian Alps...in earth's history such young mountains...and soon they won't be anymore...

Thanks, Maja, for sharing the little film with us. Who knows what kind of person Lojz would be if he had different parents... What do I know, I myself wouldn't say he's different, there are many similar people in this world, just not famous. Nevertheless, I don't approve of him demolishing Morbegno, whatever personal reason he has for it.

Next year I'll head to Gletscher paradise-skiing and Breithorn for one day just by train and I can even sleep during the ride. Otherwise the Engadin-St.Moritz area in winter is a real fairy tale http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yJ-K28UbG4

Just in case, dear mountaineers, I checked Hribe.net if maybe someone pointed out the film -Blue is the sky- which just aired on tv Slo 1... As expected I conclude nobody did. For those who don't like Lojze it's worth adding that Igor also appears in the documentary,.. and more. Best, heinz!
