The southern slopes of Resia enclose the valley with a series of hills that are very easy to cross, so it was fun to spice up the hike by visiting every named and unnamed peaklet. Indeed, such ‘up-down’ prolongs the walk and I looked down at the marked trail multiple times from the left or from the right, and due to not bothering with finding passages and easier terrain, I quickly found myself in steepness that even the Tarvisio hills couldn't disdainfully glance over.

Path wet, forest ridge part greasy, which I used for the descent from Kila, where sliding went almost as well as on a snowy ‘flank’, until I ‘fiiiiiiju’ flew into the air and landed hard on my hip mrk pogled

Spring above the valley of little beasts exploded in many shades of yellow, pink, red, purple and green, irresistibly inviting with its friendly quiet.

From parking below pasture Kot/Casera Coot on path CAI 741 and to Skutnik summit on the left variant of the path. From the top continuation on CAI 731, where the path followed the ridge, where not, I followed the ridge. Pathless sections are not orientationally demanding and often trodden, but there is terrain where knee-deep is unavoidable. Descended to pasture Njivica/Stavoli Gnivizza. To there my hike is drawn on the picture. Then continued on road towards village Liščace, i.e. towards W, which then turns towards S, i.e. towards Resia.

For the drawn part of the path I needed cca. 4h30min with all stops and photo-taking. On the road you walk nicely too. If more of you go, a car at the start and another at the end of the path are more than welcome, if not possible with two vehicles, I think Funnyboy's bike tactic is great (link on previous page).

Skutnik 7.11.2019. Yesterday no rain. At least on the path from Učja to Skutnik. At 8 we started the walk and needed exactly the time written below. Three hours forty-five minutes. Nice path to the summit along a scenic ridge. From below, little snow dusted. But last part of the path in snow. Gaiters handy. Clouds traveling. Blue then fog. Below summit, dress up, colder. Despite snow path visible, markers peeked. Summit company of ten older retirees from Udine, they said, came after us. One 80. Quite loud. Came other path. Descended same. Packed snow. Careful down due to wet path. Village Učja deserted. No one. Only water flowing in trough.

There are paths where you rarely meet anyone. We met only a guy yesterday, probably a local, at the Baban pasture. Friendly, talkative. Our hike started in Žaga in the morning and lasted the whole day. We had two paths available and chose the steeper ascent to the Ognjenk pasture. Let me say, there are almost no signs on the path. Continued to Baban pasture, where the local told us that from here you don't go to Skutnik, but have to go back to the path where a bit lower a mule track branches off leading to the summit. But that path is long. And we were thinking we might not get back to Žaga again. Otherwise quite interestingly routed. And the last serpentines to the top drag on. I won't write about walking hours, because young people probably do it in less time. But that's not important to us. Everyone walks for their own pleasure and that's right. We stayed about an hour at the top. Nice. Descent via the other path that goes past the waterfall in the lower part. Still it added up to 1700m elevation and 17 km. For our age 60+ just fine.

After the previous running-tinged weekend, my dear and I decide for a slightly heavier backpack. So yesterday we started from Žaga towards Skutnik. The path from the inn in Žaga is not marked but clearly visible all the way to the top. From the start it's best to follow the signs for Globoški potok, which lead us to a wonderful waterfall, which was very full-flowing yesterday. We continue along the path, which soon starts zigzagging and so it is all the way to the top. After a stop at the top, which offers great views, we descend further along the ridge towards Učja. We continue along the road to the former border crossing, from there we still run five kilometers to the car in Žaga. Weather wonderful, already almost too hot. Over 25 kilometers and good 1600 elevation gained.
Terrace for well-deserved beer, which still had a free table, we barely found in Kobarid. Oo, it hit the spot..nasmehjezikmežikanje

Yesterday from Žaga past the waterfall to the top and descent to Učja, where we left the car in the morning.
The little path from the waterfall onwards a bit less visible, but once you're in the forest on the old mule track, only nettles can bother you if you don't have long pants, or some horsefly on the old abandoned pasture.jezik

18.5.2022. From Žaga past the waterfalls on Globoški potok. This time we decided to go past the two upper waterfalls. We check them out. Return to the path. Continue to Hlevišče pasture. This path is steeply laid out. When we come out of the forest we continue on the Italian mule track, which once led to the top of Skutnik. There are several paths from Žaga. Marijan and I have already done two. This one for the first time. The path to the top is known to us. We had a nice day. Just quite a few ticks on the path and also on top. Looks like it's tick year. We descended the same path, but only to halfway and at the junction went down the old mule track and checked out the lower waterfall too. Quite demanding in terms of fitness. 16 km and 1400 elevation.

I'd say there's none, because it was dry less than 3 weeks ago when I was walking around there (V.Baba, Laška planja). Since then there hasn't been any major snowfall, especially at that altitude.

Now that I see the picture, I'm a bit embarrassed that I asked the question velik nasmeh But I know that snow can linger on this side for quite a while.
