Planina under Golica - Španov vrh
On Saturday morning crowds of hikers snake in columns towards the celebrated Golica, the view before me diverts me and I turn to the less crowded Španov vrh.
Daffodils below slowly wilting lose freshness, on the top still in buds, in between wonderful blooming beauty swaying in the gentle wind and warm sun ☼

Yesterday a bit around our area: Španov vrh, Lenčkov špik and Jelenkamen. Pleasant circular path - easy and views in all directions. But I have one question (Majda will surely know) - on the second picture (taken from Lenčkov špik) there is in the middle of the forest under Belščica one planina or rovt with a large object (stable or hayloft) - could that be Stamare?

Today on Španov vrh real winter fairy tale - 60 cm of new snow.

Today again towards Španov vrh, where it's still winter fairy tale. Lots of snow, skiing excellent, which suits the new owners of the lift. Today's route a bit longer: Pejce - Vovše - along the road towards Križovec - Pšenicov rovt - Španov vrh. On the road track made, from the junction to Pšenicov rovt to the end of the path nice track made with snowshoes, so walking with snowshoes was real pleasure.

After yesterday's heavy snowfall today I went to Španov vrh via Pejce, Vovše and Črni vrh. The path is now freshly tracked. Lots of new snow, so I already put on snowshoes above Pejce, otherwise it would be very hard. Nobody at the top, ski slope closed, cold and wind - real winter tour at relatively low altitude.

Going again to Španov vrh: Jesenice - Pejce - Vovše - road towards Križovec - Pšenicov rovt - Španov vrh. Soon when from Vovše past Skavarjev rovt you descend into the gully, it's highly recommended to put on snowshoes, otherwise walking is very hard. From the junction to Pšenicov rovt I made a new track - maybe a bit my own way, but I got to the ski slope and then to the top. Today no wind, shame the ski slope wasn't prepared and operating. On the path along the road to Križovec it was so beautiful, as if walking on a carpet sprinkled with diamonds. I think it was nicer than in some jewelry store. Meaning that even "ordinary" people can experience the sparkle of precious stones - just for a moment, so what!

Janez, do you maybe know how many km the road to Križovci is. Everyone walks their own way anyway.

Majda! From Skavarjev rovt to the junction for Pšenicov I walked 1 hour, with that walking wasn't fast. On the sign above Skavarjev rovt it says that to Pristava it's 9 km.

They put it back into operation recently. I don't know if it operated last winter. We arranged with the owners and they took us up. We saved an hour of walking.

Today on the descent from Španov vrh with Vovš I went through 7 ravines. The path is in extremely poor condition. Fallen trees, have to walk in water and be very careful. The lower part, where it joins the former path to Jesenice rovte is all torn up - wide clay tractor tracks that in my opinion were made very chaotically. Of course it was necessary to fell spruce attacked by bark beetle, now restoration is needed - reforestation, path leveling, otherwise the water which is abundant here will carry everything away. I don't recommend this path to inexperienced or children, but better to go down than up.

Today again to "that home" hill . Strong but not freezing wind was blowing. With altitude the wind strength only increased, but that didn't spoil the nice views towards the Julian Alps.

Yesterday late afternoon I go from Jesenice from the health center to Španov vrh. Snow increases significantly with altitude, up to about 40-50 cm. I broke trail fresh, real pleasure though also strenuous. I return already in pitch darkness. But conditions checked, so already this morning I grab touring gear and quickly to Planina/Golica.
I start from the lower cable car station hoping someone has already broken trail. Unfortunately no, so I plunge into deep snow again, like the day before only this time with skis.
Overnight the snow transformed partially so that the ski from the top to the shelter was worth squealing, from mid station to half way still ok, to the bottom a lot of moaning
