Pic 2, yeah, I was there, all fine till there, but the steepness is not for me, I got a bit scared when alone up there, God forbid something goes wrong.

If you're alone and it's your first time, it's better to turn back anyway if you're not sure it's safe. But only above, when you reach the ridge, there's one tricky spot (II), where you have to cross a short jump to the left and to the top!

This time I reached the summit, more details in the continuation. I start early at the church over the suspension bridge and immediately after it to the left on the path; after about 10-15 minutes of walking, cairns appear on the right – I don't turn here yet, a bit further, after crossing the stream, cairns and a visible little path appear behind it. Here I go right until I reach the wall, the waterfall that barely flows. When I get there, a little path branches off to the left uphill, I follow it to the wall where I also spot the fixed cables, I climb the steep path and follow the forest hunting trail all the way to the hunting hut at Staro Utro; there are cairns in between, sometimes the steepness is quite pronounced, elsewhere less so, it takes me a few hours since I take my time. When I arrive at the hunting hut, I don't delay the rest much and continue in the direction of Trentski Pelc. The little path is still quite visible at the start, later it gets lost; this time I check that I'm really on the right path and it seems that recently I went a bit directly to the scree, today I went where it should go but still scrambling through the brushwood, you can't avoid it. When I reach a grassy gully, I follow it for quite a while; higher up, some sawn-off brushwood branch helped me, cairns are not frequent, actually quite rare. Higher up I come out quite to the right of Trentski Pelc. The path that goes under the Pelc crest gradually becomes more demanding from that I. grade and by scrambling through the brushwood I reach the gully where the path becomes II grade; here I climb almost to the top, later I descend and correct to the right direction. The ascent is extremely demanding, some good II grades; I memorize very well where I walked so there won't be problems later. I didn't meet anyone on the tour. It was worth it and I'll gladly go to Trentski Pelc again since today I felt that specialness which is hard to describe but which I rarely feel.

Congrats! Yeah, that "specialness" from the last sentence is really hard to describe in words!

@dprapr: Thanks, ascent to Trentski Pelc with infos is scarce on the internet. That pic you posted with drawn path—that's where it just starts and the summit is hidden, not visible on the pic.

The line on the picture just indicates the direction where to start the ascent in the upper part. And from where I took the picture, I think you can see a bit of the summit. Lp

Hello, what if someone found and marked this path a bit better, because maybe many would visit Trentski Pelc. Every time we wander around Trenta we look up but don't know where to start. Lp

Only Igor masters these Trenta mountains, write to him on ZS, he will surely reply. Such demanding descriptions aren't suitable for everyone who sprints after this and heads to a difficult path with a paper in pocket. One thing is info for experienced, another temptation for rookies

Starting point is above Trenta at the church of Our Lady of Loreto. Opposite the church is a small parking lot and a hanging bridge to the other side of the Soča. Cross this bridge then turn left and continue on the path. You walk and walk, observe, look around, the first cairns on the right lead to the climbing wall. Go a bit further and when you spot new cairns turn right, there's also a stream, continue on the visible trail or along the stream to the waterfall/cliff (waterfall is poor). On the left side before the waterfall track the trail going up, follow this trail until you reach a viewpoint where the cemetery is visible in the valley. Here find the fixed ropes on the right, then go above the waterfall, it's steep, the path continues steep, all hunters' paths are like that. Further the path goes above the waterfall, hunters' trail, here and there some side less visible path appears but ignore it. Continue and the main junction is higher, right goes towards Ušje, left towards the hunters' hut Staro Utro, there's also a small cairn on the left, so here go left and a bit higher spot some old fence. Then just follow the hunters' trail to the hut, in between there'll be some side barely visible path, probably just a more direct trail or it ends after a few meters. You cross quite a few streams, no water, trail isn't bad either. Here I walked about 2-3 hours. Alternatively go past Podskalarja then just follow the forest path to the hunters' hut but it's long. Well I'm not much of a writer, but hope I helped a bit. To Trentski Pelc unfortunately the pathless part is serious business requiring II grade climbing, in fog, wet up there really nothing to do.

6.8.2015 Trentski Pelc 2116m This week our colleague invites us to the Trenta mountains. We leave home at 2:30. At five in the morning we drive past the little church of St. Mary in the dark. We park a bit before the camp and quickly unpack the gear from the trunk. Over the hanging bridge at the camp then left... After approx. 45 min. walk we start looking at each other... A bunch of objective/subjective factors influenced us so that we did a circular tour around Trenta for the start... Park at church/over bridge/left/when cemetery visible on left then right into ropes. Milan remembers the camera in the car and rushes back. 7:20, almost two hours already wasted. The sun heats properly and despite being in the forest shade we sweat properly. We follow the paths without trouble and at 9:30 we are at the hunters' hut Stara Utra. We drop the backpacks, remove wet shirts and take a well-earned rest. Janez soon notices the similarity of Pelc to Matko's cup. It is hard for us from the shade uphill into the sun. Tall grasses, nettles, hidden stones in grasses, path searching, sweat flows in streams, water is already warm. Overheated, nasty scree and finally into the wall. In the gully despite the heat we enjoy. The rock is not crumbly, the bushes trimmed, what more could you want? Real enjoyable climbing pleasure. We crawl to the ridge and along it with fantastic views toward the summit. It is hard to climb the ridge in such views that are offered. The last few meters are such that we stop looking around. First safely over the rock barrier we climb to the summit 12:20. We treat ourselves to a rest and already think about how to continue...? Shall we go over Ribežle also to Srebrnjak? Unanimously we decide that in this heat, upright since 02:00, fatigue, water consumption, scheduled meeting in Trenta with colleague we do not continue the ridge. We descend so that we do not struggle with the last rock step. Down steep grasses and traverse across narrow gravel gully. A little adrenaline traverse (a few meters) and we spot the gully exit by which we crawled up. In the fierce midday heat we eye the hunters' hut which is still far below. We wish for shade and cold water. Finally we crawl to the hut, lie in the shade, snack - 14:15. We do not regret deciding for the return. Then well-earned rest on the military road and return to the valley. We count the bends, it drags on... At 17:00 we are on the main road where the colleague picks us up. We wish for water, beer, fresh dry clothes and coolness.... Nice but quite strenuous tour. Especially in this heat. When after that "unlucky" morning tangle we found the right path, we had no more special troubles. Maybe from the hunters' hut to the scree in these tall grasses sometimes you have to make a little effort to follow the poorly visible path. When you are out of the forest you have a fantastic view. The descent along the military road drags on, but you are in the shade and the road is quite well maintained. We even met a jeep above the 16th bend. Nothing else, for lovers of adventures... lp

Hello! Looking a bit at this Trentski Pelc in the forum but no helmet anywhere. Don't want to moralize... everyone carries their own head for sale, but I hope that (especially in such pathless terrain) it isn't too cheap...

On Sunday 30.8. four of us were at the top. Up and down we went via the mulattiera. Soon at the start we met local guy Lojze. At the last water source on the 19th serpentine the trickle is so weak that filling a liter of water takes forever. From Stara Utra onwards there's a poorly visible little path that gets lost here and there. Passages through dense bushes can be followed via rare sawn-off branches. GPS was a big help since the path is very accurately mapped on Adria topo. From the scree onwards scrambling up the gully isn't demanding if the grass is dry. The ridge is fairly easy too, just one 5-meter II pitch in between. On the descent need to be a bit more careful because of the grass. At the hunting hut we met a hunter with his family who told us about a shortcut to the 19th serpentine. It's well visible up to the gully, then it gets lost just like we did. More by luck than skill we still found that bend. From there another hour of torment on the mulattiera where it beats every toe individually. The tour is definitely worth it.
