Two-day tour in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps
|
| matjaz555. 01. 2012 20:13:03 |
We are a group of 5 people who are fairly well conditioned and want to do a two-day tour in our Alps in the summer months. We have in mind to head to Grintavec on the first day, of course from Jezersko, then continue to Štruca and to Skuta. We would overnight in the bivouac under Skuta. On the second day we have in mind Turška gora, Brana, Kamnik Saddle and descent to Okrešelj or to the hut at Razpotje in Logar Valley. I'm interested if such a tour is feasible in two days and if it's realistic for people who last year visited quite a few mountains in Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Best, Matjaž

Of course the tour is doable in two days , some do it in one day . It failed for me this year due to the heat up to both Kočn-Grintovec around 12:00, a heat wave, so descent towards Jezersko. I planned to go further to Dolgi hrbet, Štruco-Skuto-Rinke and drop there to Jezersko, I know the paths, if you happen to decide we can arrange together, but the path is very demanding.

I'd say so, summer is still far away , so many paths described here, of course with times, grab a map and by summer you'll have it all under control, answers you'll get are more or less subjective. Best! ps - what you wrote is nicely doable.

I agree with LG. If well prepared (fitness-wise) and with lots of water, it's definitely doable in 2 days. Don't forget the helmet and maybe a via ferrata kit.

It'd be good if by then you learned proper mountain names you plan to visit . (Grintavec, Turška gora)

Well, I'm glad someone else spots the grammatical blunder Turška - kava is most often written wrongly , Kokrško sedlo and Grintavec.

I'd gladly join you, of course, if someone lends me a via ferrata kit please. How's the climbing? Is there anywhere worse than Turski žleb to Skuta? I did that in September with PD Mislinja and my knees buckled properly on a few spots going back down, up wasn't a big problem, the bigger problem for me is going down . So I'm interested if there's anywhere more dangerous

Hribovc is harder than Turski žleb, that one I first climbed down. We're already agreed for Triglav this year, if you want no problem.

A while ago - I think some 3 years ago Igor wrote an answer to a similar question ... be afraid there where there are no pegs and slings - and it's still true.

Mrzla gora is the least secured, I just hope it stays that way.

But here on the above mentioned peaks there are none I'm interested also which two-thousander in KSA is easiest accessible, e.g. how about Grintovec, probably no need to climb Grintovec, if there's that mountain run up, am I concluding correctly

Grintovec is the easiest, over the roof, no pegs, slings, that's why in summer the biggest rush exactly on this mountain.

Sorry for the mistakes, the printer goblin teased me a bit. Hribovc88 the more demanding the nicer it is. But get a self-belay kit anyway buy or rent. Although basically we don't need it, but you never know what situation you're in, same with helmet.

Of course your tour is feasible in two days. And some time will remain for you. On the second day you can ascend also to Planjava and from there descend over Škarje towards Klemenča jama and further to Razpotje ( or Dom planincev). That way you get rid of the annoying walk on the road from Rinka waterfall to Razpotje. Hribovc: Kalški greben, Grintovec. The Kočne have all paths very demanding

You still have quite a few, even further east Veliki vrh, Raduha (I assume you know it), and around Zvoh, Korena....

@Hribovc Take the map in your hands, examine it and where there is no marked trail, it's not difficult, you can reach all such peaks, no panic that there are only two, Ledinski vrh ... you can search for trips on this site using criteria and get hits, ... or have you never tried searching for some tours this way.

Hribovc88! If you plan to join the above-mentioned group on the route, know that the Frischauf path to Grintovec is very demanding, similarly the path over Dolgi hrbet, descent from Skuta, descent from Turska gora towards Kotliče and I could list more. For the mentioned paths a via ferrata set is very welcome and above all complete indifference to depths. Regards
