Veliki greben

Today on Great Ridge. We started at the parking lot by the cable car towards Gamsov skret on Tratach. Before Gamsov, we turned right and on the scree followed a well-visible trail to the right and followed it to the end that brings you to the start of the ridge and leads you to the end of the ridge. Down we went via Žmavčarji.

Today's tour - Veliki greben, besides difficulty also sultrily seasoned. From Gamsov skret we crossed right to the visible path and climbed to the ridge. Here started quite tolerable "fight" with scrub, which lasted a good half hour. Followed a well-deserved snack at saddle below wall and decision for route choice. We chose bypass on right and thus successfully avoided wires on left side zavijanje z očmi

. Then straight to summit, mostly good rock route with some annoying grassy passages. In last part there are still two wires, this time gladly accepted help velik nasmeh

. After summits Skuta and Brana heavy fogs hung, so we turned back and descended via Žmavčarje towards valley.

Early in the morning at V Koncu and via shortcut (Gamsov skret) to Veliki greben, first a path, then to the ridge which becomes very very exposed several times. At the top of Veliki greben I take a rest, then continue along the ridge. I return via the lower marked path below Skuta and also to Kogel. I descend over Kokrsko sedlo.

But today I reached the top of this ridge via a much easier path. nasmeh

In spring, the path over Žmavčarje is very popular with me. Besides the mentioned summit, my goal today was the bivouac. In the morning the temperature was just right, so that it was also nice to go on the snow, which starts about 150 m below the bivouac. I gave up looking for the data on the height of the highest point of the Great Ridge. On some maps the height of 2006 m is mentioned, which surely is not correct. I measured 2097 m.
All morning nowhere a living soul, only a herd of chamois posed for me for a while.

lijaneja, I think that the Great Ridge is marked on the map further south from where you stood, where the ridge breaks.

Sometimes a summit that is not at the top is harder to reach.
On this ridge they cheated with ropes anyway.

In my opinion the summit (2006) is the completely grassy eastern slope that you see right after the bend in picture 18.

Great Ridge yesterday, 13.7. In the morning it looked really promising. The ridge was sunning itself ahead of us and we were a bit scared of the intense heat. Well, it was anything but that. (I only got hot from adrenaline nasmeh

) Mists were drifting here and there and occasionally shrouding the peaks. Right before the end, on the most exposed section (at least for me), it started pouring. "All for personal growth", as one of yesterday's tour participants said.
In Gams's gully we turn right onto the ledge, descend a bit lower through the bushes (saw marks visible), ascend again, traverse right and start climbing through bushes toward the ridge. Very steep and quite demanding. On the ridge we stick to the right side more. First cable takes us to the left side and then up. For a while we scramble right on top of the ridge. From the first summit we descend to grassy saddle, from where descent to Žmavčarje possible too. Tour not over yet. Ahead two really pointed peaks that look scary from afar. Up close they soften a bit, cable helps. Right before end ridge adds pepper grain - short climbing bit on narrow ridge where veeeery steep drop on both sides. And right there rain started, so extra slippery. After last obstacle, we descend through the grasses to bivouac under Skuta where we wait out the end of the shower. Descent to Žmavčarje and earned beer at Marjon's.
Super tour (for me big T) in super company.
p.s. Don't want cables to mislead: On ridge three cables which help but Great Ridge no secured path, pure pathless and easy scramble.

Interesting and scenic tour, in places very sharp ridge with steep grasses no joke!
Yesterday we visited it. First to Trat pod Koglom, then turned to well-visible grassy ledge, after a while a miserable path appears on it. After crossing gully (descend a bit) we climbed the slab to ridge.
In the first part the ridge is quite bushy, in the second part more rocky and nicer. Rock good in places, suspicious in others so some grass tufts seem more reliable. Higher up views open more, ridge becomes narrower and clearer, heart more playful.
