Veliki Babanjski skedenj

Print
IgorZlodej10. 09. 2010 20:49:59
Since time wasn't exactly plentiful, I barely slept in the morning, drove to Gozdec, from there about 15 minutes along the marked trail towards Kanin, then left on unmarked path that's easy to follow, higher up some cairns help too. Nice view all the way to the sea, just blowing from the north and highest peaks of the Julian Alps in fog. Short stop at summit, then descent to saddle between big and small, and along cairn-marked off-trail to marked path from Kanin to Gozdec, and along it to remains of old hut, and back to start. Nice circular tour suitable for upcoming autumn time.

Igor, how does the path go in the summit area of Babanj Barn, is it off-trail, climbing? Thanks in advance and best!

When the mule track or what's left of it midway up the summit slope of Babanj Barn ends, turn right at cairns along easy grassy off-trail to summit. Direction marked by cairns, however everyone goes a bit their own way. On descent watch not to miss the aforementioned path, otherwise can go too low, especially important in fog.

Well I'd go somewhere else after a long time not to Bovec area, but what can we do if our "iron pony" turns to B'c by itself nasmehmežikanje
Mašera calls this peak "hidden jewel of Kanin". Yes it's a jewel... Noble shine gives it solitude, wonderfully wavy path, sections of complete off-trail and boundless views all around…
Today we did same circular tour as Igor described above. Though mostly unmarked path and off-trail, no problems to summit, but on return at saddle between both Barns wouldn't mind more cairns…zadrega. Walked bit left right up down, then spotted something that "smelled like" "once mule track"…followed it and when saw human footprints in first of some snow patches left, knew we "hit right" nasmehnasmeh…soon cairns more frequent and placed where needed for right direction though almost no path…to junction with marked trail to valley. Phenomenal tour ended with stop in Bovec in nice company. nasmeh
Initially the path leads along the foot of the steep and smooth wall of Turna in Skednja...1
Comfortable walk through the pleasant Gozdec forest...2
Then views open up... and what views!!! Towards Bovec Basin...3
Autumn snapshot...4
The view reaches all the way to Krn... in front the Polovnik ridge...5
Our today's goal...Veliki Babanski skedenj6
For now it goes along a comfortable mulatiera...with view towards Matajur7
The play of nature around Kanin is truly incredible...8
Autumn...9
Julian giants...from Mangart...across Jalovec...to Triglav...10

Interesting appearance of Malega Babanskega skednja from the saddle...12

Oh, so long since I posted anything that I forgot how it's done jezik
Lately time always overtakes me, so I'm very late with this post too, but better late than never nasmeh
On Saturday I also managed to climb and pant to Veliki Babanjski skedenj - a tour I've planned for a long time velik nasmeh. Since Igor and Gita praised this circular tour so much, I took it too and admit it's excellent. The unmarked path is fully easy to follow, just like Gita says, at the saddle I too wouldn't mind more cairns.. though we found the path quite quickly cool. Just below the summit knees really hurt a bit, but the goal with all bombastic views completely charms you. So there followed a long stop nasmeh. But since Saturday was very hot and the path back just wouldn't end, we arrived at the car with our last strengths eekmežikanje The path isn't crowded, for we met no one velik nasmeh

Today I did a loop tour in the direction as Igor and others describe. Unmarked mulatiera that splits left 5min below pl Gozdec and initially slightly downhill then very well followable all the way. Just a couple mins south below the pass at Ruši (above pl Baban) be careful at the right fork and after a few steps you see the goal - ahead all clear. Nice day with views on the silver strip of Soča in the valley, full palette of Julians and snow-covered Dolomites in distance that don't end. After a while another couple joins us, two descending from Laška planja via Rosojanska - that's almost a holiday for these areas no wonder in such weather. Descent partly on western ridge then more like repeat
of "first descenders" variant; but orientation point for us was the slightly prominent rise of Kačarjeva glava.

Nice, Igor nasmeh

Just one correction. Slovenian has the dual so dear to me (and surely to you too).mežikanje

Correct is 'pred dvema letoma' and not 'pred dvemi leti'.

In Slovenian we can write: "Midva se imava rada."
In other languages there's always a third one involved.....
