Has anyone hiked these paths this year?

Yes. The only thing you need on this trail is time. Otherwise I'd advise ascent by another variant. Return, say, by these descriptions. Or not

For info to others, this question: does this container in pic 22 serve as bivouac, ... maybe open?

Not open. Not bivouac. Looks like it's from GRS.

31/10/2020/On a beautiful and very warm autumn day, the Skedenj came into view. I can say it is one of the nicest viewpoints on the south side of the Kanin mountains. It is a distinct spire (kopa) to which no marked path leads. Our today's approach went from Gozdec past GRS bivouac, old hut partly along marked path to Kanin, where we leave it midway and through pathless terrain and interesting passages in company of chamois, ibex, Apollos and beautiful white one we arrive at the north side of Skedenj, then we climb to the ridge where we quickly reach the summit itself. We meet nice group at the top ,,we descended via lake saddle and through Ruša to Gozdec,, Nice feeling to be part of all this beauty, ,which is gifted to us, ,it offers itself, just need to scoop it with a full spoon, without feeling of guilt or bad conscience,,, we wish lots of enjoyment to all,

You had a nice time. Did you maybe take pics towards Črni Vog? I would ask you for its photo. If not, please send the fifth photo to my mail. anton.knavs@gmail.com Thanks and safe travels.

Yesterday, Friday, January 28. Around Great Babanj Shed. The impossible happened. Couldn't find the path. Or found it too late. Road above Plužna to station B partly clear, mostly covered with frozen snow. Risked and safely drove car to Kanin cable station B. At half past eight no one around, cableway not running. Another twenty minutes walked on barely truck-driven road to marked path to Kanin, from there no traces on road further. From path to Kanin easily found branch to Great Babanj Shed. At about 1300 m put on crampons, as mulatiera mostly buried in frozen snow and had to cross annoying wooded slopes here and there. Below Ruša ridge (1700 m) path simply lost in snow-covered dwarf pines. Phone map showed up the Ruša wall, where saw snowed support walls that could be mulatiera. Hmm, strange. Didn't look easy as description, especially wandering snowed cliffs high up. Prospecting wading snowed dwarf pine jungle toward saddle Ruša-Kopa where logically path should go, didn't appeal at all. So turned right and climbed some 200 meters higher to dwarf pine summit to survey in peace. Well, not quite peace, just below top small snow hole whose main feature is welcoming you friendly when you slip in but reluctantly and conditionally releases when scrambling out. View from summit revealed path probably goes straight toward saddle under Kopa. But saved me unwanted wading dwarf pines brutal gusts NW wind at least 40 knots drove me from comfy viewpoint actually in lee of Ruša and both Sheds. How must it be up there on unprotected south and west slopes? Bit windburned returned own track, mid forest found snowed mulatiera remains leading gently up to marked path somehow below Turn in Skedenj. So day not wasted decided climb at least to GRS bivouac at ~1812 m (next to 1972 burned Peter Skalar hut). In virgin snowed landscape helped marks painted on rocks visible winter too! Congrats to markers! Snow not much but conditions very wintry! Wind eased, views around unique. Like Cinque Torri or nicer looked Konjc (if not mistaken name), part Great Skedenj looking like Tre Cime... And ridge Kala to Krn, other giants no names found... Descended marked path to road then station B where car. Crampons on feet some 6 hours, ice axe more handy than used. Road station B to Bovec due thaw and later freeze even more icy. Uphill still ok, descent put chains. Car heavy on ice can go own way quick. Well, today's cars smart, probably more than smartphones. Just press "Snow" button and it safely takes you valley. More on road. On friend advice drove up via Vršič. Road clear. At Kluže apparently roadworks so timed traffic closure (link). Back didn't fancy tiring Vršič drive so risked via Kluže. Twenty minutes to 18:00 (still closure time) green light at traffic light. No border Covid control at Predel, same at Rateče crossing. Home unraveled mystery passage to saddle Ruša-Kopa. Actually two mulatieras. Some maps upper, others lower. maPZS both. Summer orientation clear, passage unproblematic, winter... Anyway did 200 or 300 m more elevation than to Shed. So all good. And above all, unforgettable!

Day before yesterday (Sunday, February 13) wandered again between Ruša and Kopa, even higher up. Snow almost same amount as three weeks ago, just more frozen. Upper mulatiera over east Ruša wall still drifted and hard to pass. Also lower mulatiera to saddle Ruša-Kopa snow covered. Short but demanding in these conditions. At saddle and further found three marks leading toward south Ruša wall, then path with marks simply lost. Probably can't go over to Ruša top, maybe but unlikely some way down toward Boka waterfall then right to Baban pasture. Maps chaos with paths here, maPZS closest. Probably so everywhere crisscrossed with mulatieras. Though snow esp south slopes little, winter gear mandatory. Above 1200 m transitions snowy, icy, bare frequent. Quite demanding it seemed. Road past Kluže open Sat-Sun, just maybe wait 1-2 min at traffic light worksite. More on current conditions under Kanin wrote at Modrina neba.
