Maybe one small remark. At the junction by the tree - straight Rdeči potok - right and after a few meters left over Brinje - right PP towards Vrtaški ridge (before towards Kukova)

Rather than 1 or 2 grade, in my opinion the "problem" is the crumbliness and all those little rollers on the slabs that you have full a... ..especially on descent.

Totally agree! From Dnine once you're on the NW ridge there's none of that!

On Friday on the first November day, I set off to catch my next sunrise. This time I choose the highest in Martuljek. Night hike went completely normally...well, except that I had to watch well for cairns...to even find the path to the summit... Weather was fantastic and this was again an unforgettable sunrise. Divine views from the Altar, you can see all our highest peaks. Obviously gotta climb up there once.

Well, almost to the Altar. Today cloudiness was bothering me, so I got to the Grlo saddle, started climbing the scree towards the final ascent, but a cloud came and almost nothing was visible. I went back to Grlo, waited a while but it didn't improve. Then thunder rumbled in the distance and I decided the summit can wait. Down via scree, of course—heavenly. The scree descent leads exactly to the water. I was completely alone and maximally enjoyed the company of the stone giants. LP Andrej

On Saturday Janez and I did this tour. Up through Brinje, an extremely nice and scenic path, to Dovje Cross, then traverse of the scree to the Altar. Cairns show the way nicely, but caution is needed due to lots of ,,gravel,, underfoot. Down via scree past the bivouac. Excellent tour, great company and a well-deserved cold beer in Dovje. Next week I plan to climb Dovški križ and V. Oltar and ask for info on current conditions on the path Poldov rovt-Dovški križ-V. Oltar. No recent posts from this area on the forum. Have they replaced the bivouac removed last fall with a new one as promised? Thanks.

The bivouac apparently is not there yet. So it says on the PD Jesenice website. I don't know about the conditions. Lp

We were on Oltar on 18 June. Up the gully below the summit with crampons and ice axe, down without crampons. Easier ascent and descent that way. I believe it's doable without too, by finding other passages. Check the pics. No bivouac.
