Tojc, why are you sure that the little girl doesn't like going to the mountains and doesn't enjoy it. For most hikers, love of mountains and nature comes from youth. So...

But you want to show off, at the expense of your daughter, and Lidl, and igloo, and..... you can see how the girl felt out there, for your ego.

You're probably just jealous of him because he has a child who likes hiking with him in the mountains, yours sit in front of the TV and computer.

Sponsors as many as you want , but wouldn't you wait for your daughter to boast herself, make her a username and... then boast only about your own achievements....

@primoza: Phew, the young hiker surely wasn't too warm, neither was I. @katy: Thanks! Next time definitely a balaclava, the beard froze (too much)! Otherwise I urge everyone not to judge others too quickly. I remember as an 11-year-old wanting the wildest mountains and even wilder conditions myself. If 'mula' wants it and if properly equipped for conditions and with a smart dad - why not!

Primož, congrats to both. True, couldn't say it better, where experiences are gathered - on the terrain of course and as said so many times, there is no bad weather in the mountains. LG- you're the last, really the last, who could whine about how and what is described in the current conditions forum !! LG- I would have sent you ZS, but I blocked you there on account of your sent stupidities. Regards

Ajda, congrats on the ascent. You'll have to write a comment yourself to calm the passions. I've met you already and know well, if every parent had as much patience and love guiding their kids in mountains as your dad, kids would rather go to mountains than sit at home on computer. Don't even mention safety care, including proper clothing. Wish you lots of enjoyment on mountain trips. Nice regards and safe steps from under nice Golte, Janez

JTrogar - agree with you! I myself a few years ago went with a 12-year-old kid and his dad to Mont Blanc no problem. Now he's an alpinist! Back then he wanted to publish it in Planinski vestnik, but I discouraged him. I already knew why!? And with my son we've roamed quite some hills - from his 2nd year on. Of course I carried him a lot at first. Most important is that the kid is properly protected from cold and sun rays and properly secured. Everything else is "finesse" and blah blah! Regards

Why are you all so hostile. Much better to get used to it from a young age, than to learn it in old age if it suits her. Probably Primož you're not forcing her but she wants to go to the mountains, whatever the conditions. Personally I started from a young age, well around 10 years, going with my brother who only went in summer and on dry ground. I always wanted to go with him. I'd go even if he went in winter time. Now, when I hike independently, I'm a bit scared in winter and don't know why, probably because I've never hiked in winter and am only gaining experience now. So don't give up, keep going like that. I support you both. Best David
