Today's Viševnik....from Zatrnik onwards sunshine and warmth, conditions significantly different from the last report, better for some worse for others.. velik nasmeh

Hello hikers!

I'm curious about the current conditions on this peak?

We'd go on the trail Rudno Polje - Viševnik on Sunday and wonder if we'd need winter gear.

Winter has come to our mountains, so for all ascents along the snow line above 1300m it's good to have all mountain gear with you and use it before getting stuck somewhere in tough terrain. With the promised warming there will be ice and south snow throughout the day on the south side, north dry snow, so mix everywhere. Viševnik also has upper height with steep grasses that slip in south weather, but I think due to frequency of visits and made track, no trouble on path. Good luck!

@Swen11, today was on Viševnik. Didn't need winter gear, true temps greatly affect conditions. We were at the summit a bit before 2pm, no ice, not overly south either. On summit grassy slope snow already gathering and wet grasses actually only potential slip danger or some gymnastic effort mežikanje

We know it's hard to leave warm bed in winter,

@otiv: this time for a change it wasn't the early hour the problem, but
...we arranged quickly mid-morning,
left home even faster

Well I also took some good pics today, then during descent (between 12 and 1) lost the camera,...If by chance someone found it (Canon SX210, quite a few family pics on the card), I kindly ask to call 040 875 833 so we arrange suitable reward.

My partner and I were also on Viševnik today, really can't believe it's such a winter. Wonderful views super snow. Fog in the valley though. Worth it. mežikanje

After almost 2 weeks finally sun and quite a few gathered on Pokljuka, of that some tourers. Didn't opt for skis myself, not much snow, but skiable, though today quite strong crust. Quite warm, except ridge and top when it blew a bit. Fantastic views, as always clear, hard to get down to Rudno polje.. velik nasmeh

Quite a few used nice weather today for Viševnik visit. To the top no crampons, for descent had them. Top wind and cold. jože., hope your hands thawed nasmeh

Today before biathlon over Kačji rob, then directly along the ridge to the summit. Old snow was frozen, on top a few cm of powder. We returned the same way because it was less slippery than the usual one, which is much more trodden. It was warm with nice views.
