Sleeping under Vošca peak

Morning train to Jesenice then bus to Kranjska Gora. There first hop to shop and already rushing up the steep. Snow from start, but all trodden, no problem (only for down maybe little crampons would help cause icy patches). My "base camp" 50m below summit. Night temps around -5, but biggest issue morning putting on frozen boots. Then to home some running as I caught the bus and 5h drive home.

Up from Jurež. Continuous snow from 1400m on, hard in morning, on top 30-40 cm.

Continued to Blekova and down to Srednji vrh. At end snowballs forming on snowshoes. Towards Trupej traces of only one hiker.

On Vošca summit windless, little ptarmigan marking his kingdom borders... another magic day in mountains.

Yesterday afternoon exploring these parts. Started the path in Gozd Martuljek towards Srednji vrh and further up towards Vošca, Trupej. Around 15 minutes of walking before the hut at Železnica turned back down, snow was sinking up to the knees.

Vošca is a convenient target for escaping the fog when it covers most of the lowlands. We were surprised that there were few visitors today, with my daughter we noticed only three. Usually December visits required at least gaiters, today there was only the last 15 minutes of walking on hard snow. Maybe it will attract someone in the next days.
