The morning really didn't promise much, even sleet towards Jesenice. The starting point for today's tour to Vošca was Srednji vrh above Martuljek, which itself offers besides the skillful access the best view of the Martuljše peaks. Today they are hidden, draped in rich clouds. A little above Jurež it starts snowing and the snow shower lasts almost half an hour. But since the smart one turns back, on the second half of the path the sun shines and on the top it is really nice. The feeling was that the sun shines only on Vošca after a long time, all around more or less darkening, the clouds clearing again. Then a breeze rises and it is time to go down. The path at the start (at least in the morning) is icy, later more snow, from the hunters' hut onwards the track is quite solid, off it deep sinking. Since I left the snowshoes in the car for comfort , it was good that there was no sun for half the path. On the way down it warmed up so much that sinking became worse. Snow in the summit area is up to a metre somewhere. Also cracking under the snow a lot, but since the slope is not steep, no danger of sliding. Despite mixed weather a nice day, the tour recommended for this period, not crowded.

Yesterday we started at Srednji vrh by the old hut, continued past Jurež and over Jureževa planina to Vošca. Past the farm quite muddy, in the forest icy in some places, above 1400m path snowy. The track held somehow to the start of the summit part of Vošca. From here onwards we sank at every step to the knees, somewhere almost to the waist, and only stubbornness drove us to the top. Yes, for that part of the path we needed a whole hour and it took a lot of strength. But we were all the more satisfied on the top. Sunny, unusually warm for the season, no wind, wonderful views, peace..

Conditions yesterday, Sunday 3 February, quite different from those described for Thursday. There was about half a meter more snow and walking in skiers' tracks without snowshoes was quite strenuous. But it was worth the effort for the winter fairy tale.... On the parking at Srednji vrh I took off and forgot my sunglasses.... I recommend myself!

How much time does this take for slightly faster hikers? Asking because I would go on an afternoon tour.

Yesterday was a beautiful day on Vošca. Warm sun did its thing, snow soft, sinking in quite well . But iron will prevailed, so we enjoyed the warm sun on its summit. On the way met some ski tourers already returning to the valley. No crowds, so the day was pure enjoyment.

Three sunsets, part 1. Although a bit late, but some pics are worth posting... From 1 to 3 March with Katty, nice weather, visited three peaks and waited for sunset: Vošca, Tolsti vrh and Dobrča. Plan fully successful, and weather served us... When last summer I hiked all western Karavanke, Vošca somehow stuck out from all peaks, especially view through window of ruined bivouac on top to Jalovec. So decided to visit it also in winter and surprise Katty with this nice peak. Ascent started from Srednji vrh around 2 pm... very warm, snow south-facing... otherwise cloudless. To summit of course with snowshoes, no tracks, accompanied by tracks of one ski tourer... whoever it was, thanks, so at least had direction, otherwise would have floundered quite a bit... After less than three hours of quite tiring ascent arrived at top, honored with beautiful view... Julian Alps right there... view to horizon... to Dolomites to Krvavec, Turs, Dobrača... Beljak below like on palm. For about an hour photographing on top and jumping around like small kids... Sunset was icing on the cake that day... but still had to go down... Snow partially frozen in evening, so walking much harder than up... Sometimes held, sometimes not. Snowshoes at end of path almost flew off my feet... accompanied by all kinds of curses But succeeded... Really wonderful afternoon on wonderful peak!

.....Short nice trip from Sr. vrh, or from "barracks". Path nice, snow still just traces on forest edges. Morning rain didn't take our will for Vošca. Really no sun, but views wonderful.

Today to Vošca from Srednji vrh. Unlike Julian Alps here no snow avalanche danger. Past Jurež farm steep ascent starts, but luckily no mud on path. Snow starts a bit below forest road, higher snow depth increases quickly. After crossing road track leads straight up clearing, track to pasture snowed over. Snow frozen in morning holds human weight, but later softened and snow started breaking through. At top put on snowshoes and headed along border trail to Bavha. Wonderful ridge path, slope just right for snowshoes. Descended to Bavhca saddle then forest road down to Jurež pasture, from there same path to start.
