Nice greetings! The call of the mountains is simply too strong not to respond. Since I don't have snowshoes and the amount of snow is really enormous, I somehow decided that Vošca would be a suitable ascent. I'm interested in the path. Is it "trodden", is orientation (given that the paths are unmarked) difficult in snowy conditions? Which path is most "worth it"? Thanks for the answer(s), nice greetings to the valleys and peaks

One of the rules of winter hiking is never to go where you haven't been in summer. To Vošca from Srednji vrh, the winter path goes elsewhere than in summer; since you don't have skis, try past Jurež upwards to the road that comes from Korensko sedlo. There turn right to the pasture and then at the end of the pasture left onto the cart track and straight upwards. When you get out of the forest, you will see the ruins on top. Lp, Miro

Thanks for the answer, Miro. I fully agree with you that it's good to be on the hill already before, rather than only in winter. Noted! Thanks, have a nice weekend!

Today we went to Vošca, which despite the early hour "tired us out" with southern snow. The path extended by about 1h, the snow is very soft, so walking without snowshoes is quite strenuous. Crampons are not needed. When the snow melts, up again to seek sun rays while looking at the Julians. Super tour!

Yesterday a nice circular trip past Jurež to the top, back over Blekova planina and Železnica. On the way back we were already sinking quite a bit. More http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/

On the way to Austria, we seized the crazy nice day and visited Vošca, where there are really fantastic views of the Julian Alps, as well as Austrian Alps and Dolomites. Not to mention the larches, which glow and there are loads of them on the path to Trupejevo poldneva via Blekova planina. It was quite hard to descend back to the car, the day ended way too soon.

Today to Vošca past Jurež. No tracks, but above Jureževa planina I ran into traces of a ski tourer. Compacted snow starts a bit below the cut, before that down in the forest just patches that were icy in places in the morning. Up to the forest road to Jureževa planina it piles up to 20cm. The road is rutted by off-roaders, which surprised me. At the top at least twice as much snow. Some pics here http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/2014/12/vosca.html Safe travels on the paths

Today 28.1. heading to Vošca. Srednji vrh-Jureževa planina-Vrh-Srnjak-Kranjska gora. Nice, solitary tour, snow on top around 30 cm, no ice, but conditions will change soon...

Some snapshots from Thursday's (7.5.) morning ascent to Vošca. Path without special features, views were wonderful.
