Vošca

Nice greetings! The call of the mountains is simply too strong not to respond. Since I don't have snowshoes and the amount of snow is really enormous, I somehow decided that Vošca would be a suitable ascent. I'm interested in the path. Is it "trodden", is orientation (given that the paths are unmarked) difficult in snowy conditions? Which path is most "worth it"? Thanks for the answer(s), nice greetings to the valleys and peaks mežikanje

One of the rules of winter hiking is never to go where you haven't been in summer. To Vošca from Srednji vrh, the winter path goes elsewhere than in summer; since you don't have skis, try past Jurež upwards to the road that comes from Korensko sedlo. There turn right to the pasture and then at the end of the pasture left onto the cart track and straight upwards. When you get out of the forest, you will see the ruins on top. Lp, Miro

Thanks for the answer, Miro. I fully agree with you that it's good to be on the hill already before, rather than only in winter. Noted! mežikanje Thanks, have a nice weekend!

Today we went to Vošca, which despite the early hour "tired us out" with southern snow. The path extended by about 1h, the snow is very soft, so walking without snowshoes is quite strenuous. Crampons are not needed. When the snow melts, up again to seek sun rays while looking at the Julians. Super tour! velik nasmeh

Yesterday a nice circular trip past Jurež to the top, back over Blekova planina and Železnica. On the way back we were already sinking quite a bit. More

...Yesterday... Before Jurež homestead upwards across the meadow. Path mostly dry. Snow starts on the forest road, can be bypassed. Also through the forest some sections of the path are snowy. Pasture below Vošca is dry. At the start the weather was not favorable, on top the sun was shining nasmehnasmeh

Today an afternoon tour with a colleague to Vošca. It was a beautiful spring day. No snow on our side anymore. Today there were wonderful views.
We go past the beautiful Frtalež farm in the village Srednji Vrh.1
And past that abandoned guard post.2
The last farm has organic farming. Kmetija Jurež is at 1035 m.3
Then along a pleasant path uphill - also past sheep.4
The path goes quite steeply uphill.5
Past pleasant first pastures. This is Jureževa planina - 1400 m.6
After about two good hours of walking we are before the summit of Vošca.7
Here are the ruins of some building.8
Vošca (Woschza) - 1737 m.9
View through the window of the ruin.10
We are right on the border with Austria.11
From here Villach is visible.12
Beautiful is the view to our side.13

On the way to Austria, we seized the crazy nice day and visited Vošca, where there are really fantastic views of the Julian Alps, as well as Austrian Alps and Dolomites. Not to mention the larches, which glow and there are loads of them on the path to Trupejevo poldneva via Blekova planina. It was quite hard to descend back to the car, the day ended way too soon. velik nasmeh

Today to Vošca past Jurež. No tracks, but above Jureževa planina I ran into traces of a ski tourer. Compacted snow starts a bit below the cut, before that down in the forest just patches that were icy in places in the morning. Up to the forest road to Jureževa planina it piles up to 20cm. The road is rutted by off-roaders, which surprised me. At the top at least twice as much snow. Some pics here

... Following Edina's tracks, which were already all drifted over. From Jureževa planina upwards across the planina there's enough snow for snowshoes. Otherwise the path is currently trodden. The gray sky didn't let the sun warm the frozen hands. But it was windy, gusts of wind were quite strong. So we quickly turned back towards the valley. nasmeh

Today we went to Vošca from Srednji vrh via Jureževa planina. The path or track is made and traceable. At the top and on return quite warm and consequently quite a thaw, clouds also started gathering in the sky. Views were excellent, more in photos.
