A strong thunderstorm passed over Ljubljana and subsided after 20 min.
Suddenly it got very dark, some thunder, then it rained so heavily I don't remember such a downpour. Of course I go looking for mom in Spar, where she's washing the windshield while parked like in a car wash!. Towards the end small hailstones fell too. Roads all full of water, at our place in the settlement bend channels couldn't swallow the water—lake!. Strong front now moving towards NE Slovenia, so be prepared. Lp Rok

For tomorrow, day 8.8.2010, the following weather forecast is announced: sunny in the morning, thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Would you still go to the mountains? Definitely go from the starting point early in the morning before 6 a.m.

Over Tignes in France it has snowed again with the passage of the front. This time also at 2700m, because due to surrounding high mountains it cools more. Link to view is above.

From Monday to Friday I have a plan for wandering in the Bohinj mountains
1. day Stara fužina-pl.Viševnik overnight
2. day pl.Viševnik-Prehodavci overnight
3. day Prehodavci-Vodnikov dom overnight
4. day Vodnikov dom-Kočna na pl. pri jezeru overnight
5. day down to the valley to the starting point
On Tuesday afternoon thunderstorms are forecast, Wednesday short showers. I'm interested in your experiences or advice on whether it's safe to hike in such weather.

Yeah, you just forgot to write where. Not in the Slovenian mountains for sure. But there will be heavy rain in the southern part of the country today.

Well, it really won't come down to 1600 meters, that's what forecasters say, but above 2000 meters, nice snow.

Forecast was quite accurate though -snow at 1500 and today aft.- clearing from NW.
Forecasts (if you combine them) lately usually don't miss more than being an hour early.

KSA right now very nice..white and sunlit..from Celje end. Above CE black cloud hat, view to KSA like heavens opened.

Today I did 4km loop around NW edge of Ljubljana (Pržanj, Dolnice, Podutik) in rain with plum. Here except puddles around houses and bigger pools by streams nothing serious. Some pumped water from basements with PVC ribbed hoses, worse a bit lower than us still a bit on slopes under forest. At Vič by Old church where Gradaščica joins Glinščica and Pržanec tributary all under water with Tržaška road. Adding some pics from the loop.
