ChatGPT describes the difference like this The difference between "south-alpine" and "Carinthian" immortelle refers to two different subspecies of the same plant species – Helichrysum italicum, also known as immortelle or curry plant. It's an aromatic plant from the Asteraceae family, known for its essential oil with numerous beneficial properties (e.g. anti-aging skin, wound healing etc.). 1. South-Alpine immortelle (Helichrysum italicum subsp. serotinum / subsp. italicum) Habitat: Occurs in areas of the southern Alps, mainly in Primorska, Istria and parts of Dalmatia. Also common in southern Italy and Corsica. Appearance: Smaller plant, often silvery color with pale yellow flowers. Aroma: More complex, fresh, with notes of chamomile, curry and citrus. Essential oil: Highly valued due to high content of italidiones, neryl acetate and dione – compounds with regenerative effects on the skin. 2. Carinthian immortelle (Helichrysum italicum subsp. microphyllum or other local cultivar) Habitat: It's a local variant or cultivar that thrives in Carinthia (Slovenian region). It could be a similar or even the same basic taxon, but with different properties due to local environment influences (climate, soil). Appearance: Can be somewhat different (smaller leaves, different color), depending on conditions. Aroma: Often less complex, sometimes more grassy or earthy. Essential oil: May contain lower content of key compounds (e.g. italidiones), which reduces therapeutic value, but still usable.

turbo, robots have no clue. Already the first miss was the genus (we're looking at edelweiss, not edelweiss which is described only lower). In the Little Flora of Slovenia there are 18 different edelweiss, but I didn't write the species because it didn't seem determinable from the picture. Carinthian and Soča with subspecies are my candidates. Miran: evergreen stone clematis is not even that rare with us.

Yes, Bojan you're right, 4 and 5 is in Cima Sappada, one of the nicer Carnic villages. Lynx, I'm not a big expert on mountain flowers but I think I haven't encountered flowers of such colors with us at 2400m altitude.

Branko thanks. These yellow flowers I photographed yesterday on the path from Loška Koritnica under the Brežič saddle. I haven't seen so many beautiful yellow flowers yet.
