Wild Goat - Cima di Riofreddo 2507 m

So much water as this time in these parts I've never encountered. In the morning it was still raining in Slovenia, but here it turned into a wonderful morning. Water was flowing everywhere over the walls and on many sections the path turned into stream beds. With a bit of carelessness you could get soaked in clear weather nasmeh

The approach to Wild Goat is still the same as before, just fewer cairns this time. Can't describe the route in detail, more like instructions. Need to stick to the central gully and look for suitable passages, mostly right ones. Just one short step reaches good grade 2, nothing more should be anywhere. Towards the top two gullies split, the right one leads to the summit.

This time there were some patches of fresh snow on the path, which won't be there by this week. Anita Goitan path is passable without issues.

We turn in the direction of Anita Goitan

Anita Goitan path is a wonderful traverse along the ledges of the Viševa group

Ojstrica, named Inominata. Before it (from our direction) the approach to Divja koza begins

At the beginning, choose the easiest passage into the gully; later the route mostly sticks to the right side

The path runs under the belly of Gamsova mati. It got its name from the herds of chamois constantly in its vicinity

Fog and might somewhat crossed our plans, but we didn't skip the ascent to Viš of course :)

Over there on the right ridge runs the Pot stoletnice.

The weather is drizzling, but there was no rain. Kaninsko pogorje was basking in the sun.

There was no more waterfall on the return.

Steep, concreted descent from Viška planina. The more times you walk it, the more you get used to it :)

29.7. along the fantastic path Anita Goitan, with a detour to Wild Goat. Don't know how it was before, but if you go along path A. Goitan westward, you meet markings painted with red spray along the path leading to Wild Goat. Thinking it was a regular approach some scoundrel marked arbitrarily, I followed them and soon ended up in quite a demanding terrain meant for alpinists. Went back and just before the notch found the right approach. Of course still demanding, ascent won't trouble average hiker, on top rewarded with great view to Viš. Full praise to CAI, as Anita Goitan path is superbly routed - on natural ledges, scenic, plenty of protection and just right marked. Real balm compared to Slovenian mountains messed up with Knafelc marks and pierced with unnecessary iron. Demanding paths should stay demanding, not just SVK threading, blind following countless red marks and mere fitness question.

If you see this jump, you are not on the right path to Divja koza. I went over this jump (probably third difficulty) and reached the ridge; from there it would have been even harder.

I fully agree with the last two sentences.

But even with neighbors things have changed a lot recently. Some paths have become very similar to ours (Via Amalia,...), where they also installed irons for "threading" and took all the charm out of the paths.
As far as I remember (maybe I'm wrong), there wasn't that passage under the top of Little Spica either, only the one from behind.

When those "goats" invite you, not just any, but to Wild Goat, of course no, no question velik nasmeh

Great start to vacation, sleep at Klanška lakes, then really ridiculously short drive to Jezerska valley, where I prepare in the dark, but walk in the new day. Soon reach Viška pasture, wauu, really, breathtaking when you look around and views get better and wider. At Corsi excellent coffee mežikanje

and already smiling company calling for today's adventure nasmeh

After all "updates" previous day, already biting the steepness towards Anita Goitan. Yes, beautiful, real poetry winding between towers and pinnacles, defending cliffs with ledges.
Since we had a lot to say, or because we like to chat and content not first jezik

, hehee, we missed the entry for a moment, but leading "goat" stopped us and we looked for best starting approach, which, looks like, everyone starts a bit differently. Higher no dilemma and yesss, five goats on one Wild Goat, oh what joy and laughter and dance velik nasmeh

Descent, especially initial part, extremely crumbly, lower on rock better, but we were extremely careful. Path is "goated", though for down especially need to be careful not to pull yourself anywhere and make descent harder.
Continued on Anita Goitan, not talking about spaghetti and various stretching exercises in "notch" of Little Spica zavijanje z očmi

(next time better around), lots of laughter and pirouettes, hehehe... Followed snack on only suitable grassy carpet and how good it was. After rest already eyeing right approach to new summit, from guidebook "approach via gully", hmmm, only gully on slope told me impossible, or maybe with winch?!, well, when closer, all looked different. Excellent rock, we squealed, again yes, but cheers ended soon when gully closes, path leads left to unloved steep grass with hint of nicely stacked wobbly scree eek

. Steep up, bit right, up again left, over broken summit part and yes, cheers again (told you tons that day cool

, hehe) and greeting Chamois mom. Enthusiasm for another summit and views, Viš so close you could jump, hehe. Closest "mom" is Chamois Tower, and yes, noticed someone steels for it and crosses...hmmm, congrats, maybe some great line to neighbor, hmmm, else unimaginable, crumbly,...
Well, our/my descent looked very un-elegant, probably more belly sliding on grass and wobbly holds, hahhaaa, but recovered with elegance in gully velik nasmeh

Followed descent to end of A.G., past preduh, back to Corsi hut for deserved drink. With impressions of day, don't even know when we crossed under Kapna wall, past Viška pasture to start.
Day ended with swimming of two bravest in Rajb, others "frozen" waited dry.
As youngest goatling, praised for this tour, such great company and day where I peeked a bit over my limits...

Both summits unprotected, crumbly, need some feel for climbing and orientation, but when reach summit and safe descend, summits priceless gift nasmeh

Cave del Mole, Wild Goat, Chamois Mother, Chamois Mother's Tower, Viš (29. 9. 2018)

Yesterday during the drive my first look towards Viš drooped the corners of my mouth. The 'upper floor' was in dark clouds. Still I continued past Rabelj lake and along the white road to the Cave del Mole start and then German path to Corsi, where I stopped for coffee, as the summits were still wrapped in thick mist of micro drops.
Recently I first stopped at the hut and ordered coffee. This time I ordered the same, but oddly paid 20% more for it. eek

While sitting in front of the hut the sun did not fulfill my silent wishes and the weather did not change. Still I continue, perhaps the weather will clear for the 'Kranjcers'.
On Anita Goitan I arrive almost to the notch between Wild Goat (Cima di Riofreddo) and Little Spica (Innominata), where I turn towards Wild Goat. I reach its top some 20 or 25 minutes later. Views, as seen also on picture 5, were 'priceless'. mrk pogled

For some time on the top I restlessly shifted, peered and searched for at least some patch of blue, but sadly I did not succeed in discovering it. I descended approximately in the direction of ascent, only that I 'found' three overhanging steps, which were low and easy enough that I did not feel like exploring where I had bypassed them on the way up. Continuing towards Chamois Mother (Madri dei Camosci) the sky clears and I manage to 'snap' the previously fogged mountains. The next detour from the path happens behind Chamois Mother's Tower, when I go up the gully almost to its end, then left on greens to the top of Chamois Mother (from Anita Goitan ca. 15 min.). From it back to the saddle and to the Tower (Torre delle Madri dei Camosci) (ca. 10 min. from Chamois Mother) and from it over the exposed notch to the neighboring horn/spike, which has four stones stacked by the summit cairn with an inscription that I could not read, so I attach the picture (no. 14), if someone has more luck. I continue towards Viš, from the top of which there were unique views. No trace of the foggy cover that persisted in the morning. Long sitting on the top, which would surely have extended a bit more if I had not started to get cold. zadrega

On the way down I pick up trash under the memorial plaques. There are green, pink and other colored candles. Even more, to some it apparently seems appropriate to bring electric candles. One that the wind carried away, and battery inserts that were on the rock like forgotten in space, I also put in my backpack. Why do people leave plastic and battery inserts exposed to weather influences in the sensitive mountain environment, when even in cities we throw them into specially designated bins so that there would not be acid pollution?

The whole path is normally passable, in the morning rocks and grass are damp.

Gorska planika, I recommend it, because it's really enjoyment on a high level (read: at high altitude). Even on Viš I was alone, which is a special kind of luxury. nasmeh
