Zagrad - Ostrič (circular path)

Sometimes instead of high mountains, a slightly less strenuous circular path from Zagrad via Ostric, Medvizica and back with beautiful views of the Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the sea suits perfectly. Highly recommended

Can you tell a bit more about this path? At least how to get to the starting point and how long it takes. Best, Vanja

Motorway Ljubljana-Koper exit Kozina direction Podgrad. In Obrov turn right direction Golac then in Golac follow direction village Zagrad (all village directions are marked). In Zagrad park and start walking. On GPS track the path is shown on the map (Zagrad - Ostrič (circular path)). We took 3 hours 40 min for the whole thing.

Yesterday we walked the circular path Zagrad - Ostrič - Medvižica - Razsušica - Zagrad. The weather was sunny and windy, snow around 20cm. Best Esther and Tadej

In autumn we walked exactly this circular path and I have to say it's one of the nicer hikes lately. Didn't meet a single hiker though.

Ločanka, I saw, 13 years. It really is nice. It's quite short anyway, but after yesterday's slogging through snow underfoot quite enough. Believe it or not, I got the idea from a guidebook that I accidentally won in a prize quiz on PZS FB page. There are many more interesting tours there and I'll go again.

Really interesting, so much time without any posts, now everyone has rushed into Čičarija. We have this tour planned and on Saturday five of us checked the path as Grega did. We went circular from Zagrad to Ostrič too, easy, short ascent to the summit. At the top under the pine we noticed and left there a bag with a watch charger. Views from the Carnics to the Julians and KSA, Snežnik was in the cloud, Učka nicely visible. We didn't go to Ribnik, but continued the easy path through the beech grove to Medvižica. The last part on the ascent to the summit needs more caution. Medvižica also offers a view to the sea. Then another 20 min to Razsušica. Interesting that Ostrič has two names, also Žabnik. Similarly Razsušica or Glavičorka. All these peaks are just over 1,000 m high, higher than Slavnik, Razsušica is the highest peak of the Slovenian Čičarija. In the village Zagrad we visited a tourist farm, the girl told us lots of interesting things about collecting juniper, juniper brandy, juniper oil. On the way home we bought a portion of suckling pig. For the closing tour in December we wish for exactly such weather as it was this Saturday, even better on Sunday...

Yes, you arrive faster if you meet a bear on a walk. And you also get hot in these cold and windy days. Maybe something soft somewhere too...

Ostrič - Medvižica - Razsušica - Mala Plešivica - Velika Plešivica This loop wasn't long in planning, just over two and a half years. Which is damn little, compared to plans that haven't even been realized . But it expanded from a regular loop to a wider one, which is very good and recommended . We started in the hamlet Zagrad, as the topic title says, and closed the loop there. We said we'd go on Sunday, more chance to meet hikers than bears. And there were quite a few, just right, I'd say, even two Croatian hunters in between. So no need to whistle . Great trip, world of pines, junipers, glades and rocks. On the way to V. Plešivica the scent of sage accompanies you, so you almost can't get infected . Views stretch far, to Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Snežnik, even Italy, but it was wrapped in haze. Hamlet Zagrad unfortunately with many collapsing and ruined houses. We were on the tour about six hours. We didn't rush, as it's not our habit.

Brave are those who entrust themselves to your guidance! Judging by the pictures, you weren't at Medvižica.

Brane, those signs you probably didn't see, right pointed to Medvižica. Too bad you didn't check my pics earlier .
