Access to starting point:
From the highway Ljubljana - Koper, we take the exit Kozina, and then we continue driving towards Trst / Trieste. Still before we cross the national border, we arrive in the village Krvavi Potok, where we turn right in the direction of Vrhpolje. We drive ahead for a few 100 m, and then we arrive at a smaller crossroad, by which we notice signposts for Kokoš, Veliko Gradišče and Joškova cesta. We park at an appropriate place by the crossroad.
Path description:
From the crossroad by which we parked, we head onto the macadam road (direction Kokoš and Veliko Gradišče) and begin gently ascending along it. After a good 100 meters of walking, we arrive at a smaller crossroad, where we continue right on a gradually somewhat steeper road. From the road, which then moderately ascends, views first open up only on the nearby hills, and higher also towards Slavnik. After approximately half an hour of walking, the road flattens, and then only a few 10 meters ahead, an asphalt road joins (the road comes from the village Vrhpolje). Here we continue straight and walk past the nearby decaying church of St. Tomaž and the well-kept cemetery to a marked junction, which is located only a few meters ahead from the abandoned playground and nearby buildings.
At the junction, before which the asphalt ends, we continue left in the direction of Kokoš (straight to Veliko Gradišče) and continue the path along the gentle macadam road. The fairly gentle road along which we continue slowly turns increasingly to the left, then brings us out of the forest, where a path from the village Prelože pri Lokvi (path past the spring Vroček) also joins from the right.
We continue straight and, in a gentle ascent along the road that runs through sparse forest, in 15 minutes of further walking ascend to the Koča na Kokoši.
