Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further towards Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev laz), where we reach a junction and continue right towards Stara Fužina. In Stara Fužina, at the junction by the chapel, turn sharply left onto the ascending road towards Planina Blato, Planina Vogar and Voje Valley. The road then takes us to the toll and parking fee collection point, but we follow it further to the next junction, where we continue left (right to Voje). Then follow the road to the next junction (we drive for quite some time), where we turn sharply right towards Planina Blato (straight to Planina Vogar). Follow this road to the parking lot above Planina Blato.
Route description:
From the marked parking lot in front of Planina Blato, return a little back and head onto a wide and initially also steep cart track, along which there are signs for Planina pri Jezeru. After about ten minutes of ascent, we arrive at a marked junction, from where we continue left towards Planina pri Jezeru (slightly right Planina v Lazu and also a steep path towards Planina pri Jezeru).
Continuing on the less steep cart track that still leads us through the forest, a little further on the left another marked path joins, which leads past Kosijev dom on Vogar, but we continue right and keep walking along the cart track. Higher up, the path leads through a small narrow passage, then we cross quite steep slopes where there is a high risk of slipping on ice and snow, otherwise the path is not demanding. At the end of the steep slope, the aforementioned steep path joins quite unobtrusively from the right, the cart track turns left here and turns into the fairly cool Pungrat valley, where we ascend through mostly spruce forest. When the path levels out higher up, another path joins from the left leading past Planina Vodični vrh, but we keep slightly to the right direction and continue walking along the cart track, along which the forest begins to thin. Only a few minutes of easy walking follow and we step onto the pastures of Planina pri Jezeru, where on a small hill stands Koča na Planini pri Jezeru.

Discussion about the trip Planina Blato - Koča na Planini pri Jezeru

Was here today on the way to the hut at Triglav Lakes. Exceptional location of the hut above the lake. Really nice excursion for the morning or afternoon. Not long and not strenuous path. Suitable also for smaller children. Highly recommend!

This year too I was here on the way to the peaks above the Triglav Lakes valley. Up to here it's really a pleasant trip. It's nice to sit at the hut and order, say, some juice, so I won't advertise anything else.

more than 30 years ago I left quite a few weekends there. I don't regret it. Particularly beautiful were the January hikes to Planina pri jezeru--to the old hut before the fire. There is still some pole from back then for signs. It's beautiful there.

We spent four wonderful days at Planina, enjoying the alpine paradise on Fužinske Planine, the wild view from Mala Tičarica, and the adrenaline rush of the ascent to Ograde via Lazovski Preval. In the evenings, we relived it all with the intoxicating smell from the kitchen, in the company of the friendly, voluntary, accommodating warden and his accordion, in a warm, tidy, extremely clean hut. You three are unique, stay in our mountains as long as possible, every hut would be happy to have you.
Maks should stay in the valley, as he doesn't experience all the beautiful and positive things in the mountains!

When does the hut close? Is it open on weekends outside the season too?

In winter the hut is closed, but you have the winter room available, which is open then:

Very nice hut, alpine pasture embraced by forest. I went up there with a 4-year-old on Sunday. The path goes through the forest, which means shade on hot days. Lake, huts, cows, starting point for further hikes (Pršivec, Dedno polje, Laz, Pl. Viševnik, Za Kopico, Sedmera, ...). The hut is open until 22.9.

Oh well. You have to pay half a day's earnings if you want to get there (pl. Blato)
