Planina Kosmačeve Rastke - Velika Raduha

Access to starting point:
A) From the Ljubljana - Maribor highway, we take the Šentrupert exit, then continue driving towards Mozirje, Ljubno ob Savinji, and Logarska dolina valley. From Ljubno, we drive along the main road for approximately 6 km, then in the settlement Strmec, signs for Raduha and Snežna jama cave direct us right onto a narrower and initially still asphalted road. At crossroads, we follow signs for Snežna jama cave, while we follow the road, which higher up loses its asphalt covering, to the mountain pasture Kosmačeve Rastke (the mountain pasture is not visible from the road), where we notice signs for Koča na Loki mountain hut (from the main road to the starting point is approximately 13 km). We park in a suitable place by the road.
B) From the Ljubljana - Jesenice highway, we take the Vodice exit, then continue driving towards Kamnik. In Kamnik, we follow signs for Gornji Grad and Črnivec pass, but just 1 km before the mentioned pass, we turn left towards Kranjski Rak and Podvolovljek. From Kranjski Rak (Volovljek pass), we begin descending towards Luče, where we turn right towards Mozirje. From Luče, we drive towards Mozirje for approximately 3 km, then in the settlement Strmec, signs for Raduha and Snežna jama cave direct us left onto a narrower and initially still asphalted road. At crossroads, we follow signs for Snežna jama cave, while we follow the road, which higher up loses its asphalt covering, to the mountain pasture Kosmačeve Rastke (the mountain pasture is not visible from the road), where we notice signs for Koča na Loki mountain hut (from the main road to the starting point is approximately 13 km). We park in a suitable place by the road.

Path description:
From the starting point, we head onto the footpath following the signs for Koča na Loki. The path then runs through the forest and for most of the time in a gentle ascent crosses the slopes towards the southwest. Later, the path becomes somewhat wider and turns into a cart track along which we reach the hunting cottage.
From the hunting cottage, where a view opens towards the south, we continue slightly right along the forest road. The road quickly brings us to a junction where we turn right onto the cart track following the signs for Koča na Loki. Here, the path from the Radušnik farm also joins from the left.
The cart track continues ascending through the forest and brings us to the road leading towards Snežna jama cave, which we reach exactly at the spot where a forest road closed to public traffic branches off to the right upwards, along which in 15 minutes of further walking we arrive at Koča na Loki pod Raduho.
From the hut, we continue along the marked path in the direction of Raduha, which already after a few dozen steps splits into two parts. We continue slightly left (slightly right to Durce) along the path that gently ascends along the left edge of the valley. The path soon turns left and steeply ascends through a belt of sparse forest. The steepness soon eases, and the path leads us across a few smaller meadows into the belt of dwarf pines, where it continues moderately to occasionally steeply ascending. After approximately one hour of walking from Koča na Loki, the path from Durce joins from the right, and we continue left along the traverse path in the direction of Raduha. The increasingly scenic path bypasses the summit of Mala Raduha on the south side, then brings us to the main ridge, from which a nice view opens onto the northern side.
We continue along the marked path, to which the climbing path from Koča na Grohatu soon joins from the right. The path ahead begins to ascend more steeply again and after a few minutes of further walking brings us to the 2062 m high summit.

On the way: Koča na Loki pod Raduho mountain hut (1534m)
