Spodnja Kokra - Dom na Kališču

Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana–Jesenice highway, take the Kranj–East exit and follow the road ahead towards Jezersko. Just a few kilometres after the turn-off for Preddvor, we will notice a transformer on the right side of the road and next to it a parking lot, where we park. Here there are also signposts for the Dom Čemšenik mountain hut.

Path description:
From the parking lot, first carefully cross the road, then head onto the footpath towards the Dom Čemšenik mountain hut. The wide path rises barely noticeably to the Polajnar homestead, where we step onto the road, which we follow to the right.
The road steeply ascends immediately after the house, but a little higher it loses its asphalt covering. Further ahead, the road flattens and turns slightly to the left, where it comes very close to the Čemšeniški potok stream. A little further on, we cross the aforementioned stream and immediately after it we reach a marked junction, where we continue along the left road towards the Dom Čemšenik mountain hut. The road then starts to ascend more steeply again and after less than 30 minutes of further walking brings us to the Dom Čemšenik mountain hut.
From the Dom Čemšenik hut, continue towards Javorov vrh (sign: Javorjev vrh) along the path that enters the forest after just a few metres. The initially moderately steep path soon brings us to a torrent gully, alongside which we ascend for some time. Higher up, the path turns right and ascends even more steeply. We follow this relatively steep path, which runs through dense forest the whole time, all the way to the junction on the saddle between Potoška gora to the left and Javorov vrh to the right.
Continue right (left to Potoška gora and Sveti Jakob) along the moderately steep path, which after a short ascent brings us to the southwestern ridge of Javorov vrh, from which we get some views towards Cjanovca. The path soon re-enters the dense forest, where we reach the next well-marked junction.
Here, continue left towards Srednji vrh, Kališče and Storžič (straight to Javorov vrh 15 minutes) along the path that after a few more steps brings us to a pleasant spring. This is followed by a half-hour crossing of the slopes below Javorov vrh, ending on the saddle between the aforementioned peak and Cjanovca.
On the saddle, the path from Javorov vrh joins us; we continue left towards Hudičev boršt (straight to Cjanovca and Srednji vrh). The path ahead crosses the slopes to the west, then brings us out of the forest onto the panoramic southern slopes of Cjanovca. This is followed by a crossing of occasionally steeper grassy slopes, ending at the edge of the Hudičev boršt forest. From here, the path ascends somewhat more steeply and after a few minutes of further walking brings us to the Zavetišče v Hudičevem borštu shelter.
From the shelter, continue towards the west, where we soon reach the spring in Hudičev boršt, and immediately after it a marked junction, where we go straight ahead (left downhill: Mačenska pot to Mače). This is followed by a short crossing of a grassy slope, after which the path enters the forest and brings us to a junction, where the path to Dolga njiva, Cjanovci, Srednji vrh and Mali Grintovec branches off to the right; we continue straight. The path ahead briefly crosses the slopes to the left, then after crossing a gully brings us to a junction, where we continue right towards Kališče (lower path leads to Mače).
The path ahead continues to cross the slopes to the left. During the crossing, we will reach a small scree, from which the first view towards the valley opens up. This is followed by a short crossing, and the path brings us into the Suha valley, where an unmarked path from Mače joins from the left.
Continue towards Kališče and continue the ascent along a path that gradually becomes steeper. The path ahead ascends through dense forest for some time, then brings us to the foot of rocky cliffs and a little higher to the ridge, where just a few metres off the path we spot a small hut. Here the path turns right and steeply climbs over a short rocky step. The path flattens here and a few metres further joins the usual path leading to Kališče.
Continue towards Kališče and continue the ascent along a moderately steep path, reaching the Planinski dom na Kališču mountain hut in 5 minutes of further walking.
