Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway take the Kranj - east exit and continue following the road towards Jezersko. Just a few kilometres after the turn-off for Preddvor, on the right side of the road we will spot a transformer and next to it a parking lot, where we park. There are also signposts for the Čemšenik hut here.
Route description:
From the parking lot first carefully cross the road, then head to the footpath towards the Čemšenik hut. The wide path ascends barely noticeably to the Polajnar homestead, where we step onto the road, which we follow to the right.
The road steeply ascends immediately after the house, but somewhat higher it loses the asphalt surface. Further on the road levels out and turns slightly to the left, coming right up to the Čemšeniški stream. A little further we cross the mentioned stream and right after it reach a marked junction, where we continue on the left road towards the Čemšenik hut. The road then starts ascending more steeply again and brings us to the Čemšenik hut after less than 30 minutes of further walking.
From the Čemšenik hut continue towards Javorov vrh (sign Javorjev vrh) on the path that enters the forest after just a few metres. The initially moderately steep path soon brings us to the torrent gully, alongside which it then ascends for a while. Higher up the path turns right and ascends even more steeply. We follow this relatively steep path, which runs through dense forest the whole time, all the way to the junction on the saddle between Potoška gora on the left and Javorov vrh on the right.
Continue right (left Potoška gora and Sveti Jakob) on the moderately steep path, which after a short ascent brings us to the south-western ridge of Javorov vrh, from which we get some views towards Cjanovci. The path goes just a little further back into the dense forest, where we reach the next well-marked junction.
Here continue left towards Srednji vrh, Kališča and Storžič (straight Javorov vrh 15 minutes) on the path that after a few more steps brings us to a pleasant spring. A half-hour traverse of the slopes below Javorov vrh follows, ending on the saddle between the mentioned peak and Cjanovca.
At the saddle the path from Javorov vrh joins us, but we continue left towards Hudičev boršt (straight Cjanovca and Srednji vrh). The path further traverses the slopes to the west, then brings us out of the forest onto the scenic southern slopes of Cjanovca. A traverse of occasionally steeper grassy slopes follows, ending at the edge of the Hudičev boršt forest. From there the path ascends a bit more and after a few minutes of further walking brings us to Zavetišče v Hudičevem borštu.
Starting point - Čemšenik hut 0:50, Čemšenik hut - Volčje jame 1:00, Volčje jame - junction below Javorov vrh 0:10, junction below Javorov vrh - Saddle above Skodovnjek 0:15, Saddle above Skodovnjek - Skodovnjek junction 0:10, Skodovnjek junction - Zavetišče v Hudičevem borštu 0:30.

Along the route: Dom Čemšenik (835m), Volčje jame (1245m), Razpotje na grebenu Javorovega vrha (1291m), Izvir pod Javorovim vrhom (1332m), Sedlo nad Skodovnjekom (1336m), Razpotje Skodovnjek (1348m)

Discussion about the trip Spodnja Kokra - Zavetišče v Hudičevem borštu

For the starting point I recommend the path from Sv. Jakob due to the views that are not on the path from Spodnja Kokra. We can also go via Potoška gora. Both paths also join at Javorov vrh. At this time the shelter is almost finished.

how is it with the shelter (is it unlocked?)? On Friday after work we would go up there to sleep over then continue everything ahead and around all the way to storzica?
