Bobotov kuk

Description of mountain:
Bobotov kuk is the highest peak of Durmitor. There are several routes to it. The southern approaches are the shortest, the eastern ones the longest. Various approaches can be combined. The most popular option is a traverse from the south via Sedlo pass, over the summit, and down to Žabljak; this requires two cars, a local taxi, or hitchhiking.
As the undisputed local champion, Bobotov kuk sees huge crowds. Especially in summer, columns of hikers, including less-equipped and less technically skilled tourists, climb the shortest southern routes. In many textbooks and the minds of Montenegrins, Bobotov kuk is considered the highest peak in Montenegro, although two higher peaks in the Kolata group (Prokletije) on the Montenegrin-Albanian border exist; both border Albania. The old local name for Bobotov kuk is Ćirova pećina.
